World Aquatics Championships Thread

There's now so many motor sports threads that it should be possible for at least for one sport where athletes don't need the help of massive amounts of petrol to race.

I'll be able to watch loads too, since we don't have lectures in the swimming week. :D Not that there's any great Norwegian hopes, there's one guy who might medal in the breaststroke and that's it.

Any Melburnians going?

Anyone see the footage of the Ukrainian coach assaulting his daughter. Pretty shocking stuff.

Yeah, terrible.

Nah, not going, no real interest in heading along. Would go if someone offered tickets, TBH, but they're too expensive. Glad to see that they're not selling the venue out - they should have just held it at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (where the Comm. Games swimming events were held) rather than make a new pool with our limited drinking water in the tennis centre. Absolute crock.

TBH, getting sick of all the Australian swimmers' hype. It's almost to the point where I hope that the US (especially Phelps, who is an absolute star and our media continue to try and make him look like an arrogant wanker, which he isn't) smoke us in the events, and listen to Nicole Livingston or whatever her name is and Duncan Armstrong make awkward conversation with the losing Australians.

Hehe. So basically yesterday all over again (Four Americans set world records or something? Insane...)

Was hoping this thread would die quietly tbh (goes off to watch)

Edit: Phelps 1:52.09 in butterfly... :notworthy

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Been following the Progress of Jones/Henry & Lenton, as the rest of the Australian team seems to be dying in the arse. Phelps is a legend though, every night the olds have had it on the radio instead of the T.V. mainly due to the direness of Livingston & Armstrong, the ABC team lead by Gerry Collins & Susie O'Neal is far better imo, they give the credit where credit is due, something that can't be said for ch9.
