Anyone watching the HR Derby? Robinson Cano got booed mercilessly by the Kansas City crowd. They were vicious. I didn't even know they felt that strongly about the Yanks. All in good fun though...I hope.

Fairly sure they booed him because he didn't pick Billy Butler in the team. Similar to last season when the Arizona crowd booed Prince Fielders because he picked Ricky Weeks over Justin Upton.

Yeah that makes sense. He seemed anxious to begin with and I think the crowd reaction added to the pressure. He finished with zero HR's.

I thought it was because Cano is a Yankee to start with too.

Pretty rough from those fans I reckon. Bautista had to be there, so did Trumbo. Fielder hasn't been smoking it but look what he did today.

What do you guys think about the winner of the All-star game getting home field advantage for the World Series? Certainly seems unfair some years.

It's highly unfair. It should go to the team with the best regular season record. But remember that prior to the ASG deciding the home field advantage, they used to simply rotate each year between leagues. So it's not any more unfair than it used to be.

Apparently Cano had promised he would select a Royal for the Derby.

Hence the booing.

Bit of a blow out today. Verlander with a pretty poor showing by his standards.

Yeah best regular season record would certainly be the most logical way to do it.

If they want to involve some sort of AL vs NL competition to decide it then perhaps they should base it on whichever league has the best record in interleague play overall.

Would've given Texas home field advantage for the last couple of years, perhaps they would have got the job done if that was the case!

He actually said he would "consider it", he never promised anything.

Oh righto.
So basically the same thing with Arizona and Upton.

Not at all. I thought he'd retire with the M's. His name wasn't even anywhere on the trade rumor mill. So shocking.

Will be really interesting to see how he goes and what role he's given. If he can be anything like he was for the first 10 years he'll be incredibly valuable but if he plays like he has the last couple of seasons they'd be better of with Jones and Ibanez.

Being a Rays fan at the deadline sucks every year. James Shields going here, going there, .

Pretty shocking about Ichiro. Not sure anybody on the planet saw that coming.
