The National League won the All-Star game for the first time since 1996. Yay NL!

    Oh, and George Steinbrenner died.

The Mets are 2-8 in their last 10. Diabolical road trip out west. Already down 1-0 after the first inning at Dodger Stadium, so I'm not confident of a turnaround today.

Garza pitched the fifth no-hitter of the season today. It's really been a pitchers' season, hasn't it?

A-Rod taking his time getting to 600 HRs. Seems like his ABs always end in pop-ups lately. Players around A-Rod in the order having no trouble hitting the ball out of the park.

Some interesting trades over the last couple of days.

I was particularly surprised that the Yanks picked up Berkman. He's way past his best, and I just don't see him playing much of a role for them.

A-Rod's hitting like .300 with doubles and stuff, he's not hitting poorly, they're just not leaving the park.
    Or something.

Our season is falling to pieces...again. We're tumbling off the pace in the second half of the season...again.

I believe this is the first time this season the D'backs bullpen has held onto a lead?

    Probably.

But I feel better about the world in the knowledge that A Rod is still stuck on 599. It's becoming quite amusing.

So K Rod is out for the season with ligament damage to his thumb.

How did this happen, you might ask? Well, it happened when he hit his father-in-law! New York Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez injured his thumb and needs surgery - ESPN New York

Mets are long done anyway, not even relevant anymore.

Good result for the Rays this morning, 2 runs in the 8th off Cliff Lee to take the lead and the win thanks to Soriano. Tied at the top of the AL-E

Strasburg needs surgery and will almost certainly be out for all of this season and 2011. Big blow for the Nationals. Remember how much they're paying him.
