Thank you Jason, its been a tough slog these last 30 odd years, but now we've done the impossible - win a soccer match.

The World Rankings have USA in the top 10 - that's how dubious they are.

That's only because FIFA were afraid that the USA were going to invade.

Francis Jeffers certainly will - probably the only one-cap wonder with a goal to his name. And it was also Wayne Rooney's international debut, an occasion which will history will record as far more significant than the scoreline.

That said, we were bloody awful that game. Never mind, we'll have you in Germany.

The UNited States are a much better team than a lot of people give them credit for.
I won't be at all surprised if they make the world cup semis next year.

Friendles are meaningless for countries that play 15 plus internationals a year (England and others probably play more, but i never keep count). But for countries that only play like a handful of internationals a year they are everything. But beating one of the top Internationals is something significant down here.

And for us Aussie the Rooney debut means nothing compared to the result

I know, I'm just putting things into perspective. It was a great result for you - mostly 'cause it'll never happen again.
