Manchester United bought by an American :)

"Manchester United fans are angry at the latest news. Last year, they formed a shareholders' association to buy club shares and try to protect it from Mr Glazer's clutches.

A spokesman for Shareholders United, which represents 17% of the club's shareholders, told the BBC that Mr Glazer was "no Roman Abramovich".

I dont understand the outrage among fans about it.What is the fuss about ? What difference does it make to the fans ?

Beautiful. Now disgusting commericalism in football devolves to disgusting American commercialism in soccer.

Like I say, should have complained when you became a PLC. No sympathy at all.

I'm more worried about the TV rights implications for the other Premiership sides - but it ain't gonna affect City one bit. Maybe a few of the United fans will now start to watch their local teams a bit more - Altrincham are a game away from promotion to the Conference.

Wait, I said local sides. Billericay and Braintree have had decent seasons...

Public Limited Company.

Shares in the company are available for public sale on the stock exchange. Man Utd floated themselves (became a PLC) a decade or so ago to take advantage of thr vast extra funding opportunities that being a PLC offers (i.e. people buy your shares, you get money).

The disadvantage... well, voila.

well manchester united isn't gone has yet, but i'm sure they will be able to stop it somehow and even if he does take over he better and rename the club cause has one of the executives said on BBC said earlier today (thats english time) they will buy a new club since Manchester United's glorious tradition of 125 years of glorious football has to go on.

Come on! It will be good for the game, once the American's own enough soccer clubs it might make the sport interesting.

i seriously doubt he will renamed the club, the only reason a sporting side would be renamed if for marketing reasons and Manchester United is the most famous sporting team in the world...

And why is that? Why bring a level of discriminination into the game on the basis of his country of birth? I say this. If there's any foreign team that America has any interest at all in, its Man U.

look man, if you ask any Man U fan their views on this situation all would share my views. If other clubs like chelsea want to have foreigner take over their club fine with them, cause i reckon this take over has helped chelsea's fortuness change dramtically.

United dont need a foreign takeover, especially some american who i am sure has no interest in the clubs wellfare, just mainly about the owing the biggest club in the world

Well it couldn't get much more boring. With the introduction of American owners we could see rule changes and the like that would make the sport more appealing.

It obviously is if this guy can possibly grab 75% of the side and they are on the stock exchange.
