There was a heap of guts in that performance, our defence was absolutely outstanding for one. That win means more than the Auckland result I reckon. As Voltman said, to keep SA scoreless was just incredible.

Has Carter ever missed 4 kicks in a match before?

Good result for the All Blacks, though it was a closer game than the 19-0 scoreline suggests. South Africa weren't able to capatalise on their opportunities and made far too many basic mistakes. McCaw was absolutely immense, and Jimmy Cowan played well so I'm happy.

Haven't commented on the game yet as have had the VCR in overdrive over the last few days with everything on. :p

Thought that keeping SA scoreline is MASSIVE and the ABs deserve full credit for their efforts and if Carter had actually managed to kick a few penalty goals, we would've been well ahead. South Africa were unlucky on a few occasions though, with Habana's try that was disallowed and quite rightly so (not sure why it was referred though) and Monty replicating Carter's kicking, along with a number of sustained periods of attack. The All Black's defense needs full recognition for negating those periods of attack and turning the ball over at crucial times. Nice to see Toeava get 50 minutes, was very solid as was Kahui, so with two non-specialist wingers we didn't see to have too many issues. McCaw brilliant as usual, and almost referreed the game at times (wonder if anyone else knew that new ELV rule from drop outs because I had no idea).

I was disappointed for South Africa and especially their fans. I post at quite a few rugby sites and the South African fans are always very modest about their teams accomplishments - so much so that I wanted them to win the Tri Nations. But they wont now...

This weekend will be mighty interesting. South Africa played well below what they're capable of again New Zealand, but Australia suck playing away from home... so... it's difficult to pick.

South Africa vs Australia about to get underway now. I'd give the Wallabies half a chance of breaking their terrible run of losses away from home in the Tri Nations to be honest, with South Africa missing Smit, Bakkies Botha and Habana, and coming off last week's 19 point loss. Hoping for an Australian victory actually which is a little unusual.

10-0 to Australia at half time, so my prediction doesn't seem too ridiculous at the moment. :) Pretty inaccurate effort from South Africa though, its hard to believe they're the same side who were so impressive and effective at the World Cup less than 12 months ago. They've now gone more than two hours of Tri Nations rugby without a single point...

I'm not usually a big fan of Australia vs South Africa matches but that one was worth watching IMO. Credit to Australia for finally breaking their losing streak, and they certainly deserved the victory today. Still not sure how South Africa could make so many errors. I don't think it'll be so easy for the Wallabies next week at Ellis Park though.

Dreadful. Absolutely dreaful performance by South Africa.

Truth be told I don't think Australia and New Zealand have played all that well in the last two weeks. Somehow the World Champions have forgotten how to play rugby. Their backline is a joke. Butch James sucks. Their loose forward combination isn't working. Worst of all were their handling errors. They're getting the basic stuff wrong.

Damn it I'm angry!

The South Africans were no more worthy World Champs last year than they were in 95.

Truth is they got incredibly "lucky" (if that's what you can call what they did to the ABs in SA) on both occasions and they are being revealed for what they are - average

This year, they've selected everyone from everywhere and been hammered by 2 sides in the process of rebuilding

The coach is a hack, some of the "stars" are hacks, and it's about time IMO

Would agree there. They only needed to beat an awful England team who scarcely touched the giddy heights of inadequacy on a good day. Aside from us it was flat-track bullying all the way: Fiji in the quarters & Argentina in the semis.

De Villiers is considerably worse than a hack tho; the bloke's a ****ing joke. If he's the best non-white coach in SA the others must be a sorry bunch indeed.

Mostly disagree, Argentina were pretty pumped up for the Webb Ellis Trophy. Team of the tournament I reckon.

I can't decide which is worse -- the Boks or the ELVs. Perhaps it's the Boks playing under the ELVs. God Rugby World Cup 2007 was a joke. They should re-play it.
