Interesting to see Cooper considering going to league. Must be the first high-profile union player somewhere near his peak to defect to the junior code for ages.

I'm not too sure what likelihood of his change in codes is to be, as both Cooper and the ARU have denied any switch in the immediate future anyway. From stuff.co.nz: "Wallabies X-factor Quade Cooper has revealed he wants to scale great heights in rugby union before considering any thoughts of switching codes. Despite a report his manager last week held talks with NRL club Parramatta, Cooper has told AAP he's determined to help the Wallabies to the 2011 World Cup and continue Queensland's Super rugby revival." Would personally doubt very much he'll be lost to league in the next couple of years.

Fair enough. Was reported in The Guardian yesterday tho and they're one of the more reliable English media sources usually, so assumed there was something in it.

I'd say it was just his manager playing the "negotiation time is near so bump up his value with a bogus offer from a rival code" game.

Not in any Rugby press I've ever read. I've seen him play over half-a-dozen times & he's good, but a flat-track bully. Where was he in The Semi against The Crims? George Smith had him in his pocket. Jerry Collins totally outplayed him. For my money he’s your top fella, not McCaw. As for him being the next AB captain, fair enough, but that doesn’t mean he’s top drawer. Reuben Thorne? Todd Blackadder?
It's quite fun reading back through threads sometimes...

Think it's more to do with the ARU throwing trucks and houses at Giteau and O'Connor while only thrwoing cars and Houses at Cooper despite him being the standout player of the year.

But definitely an element of the "negotiation time, pay me or i walk to the other mob"

Maybe if they'd thrown a laptop at him last time his contract was up for renewal, he wouldn't have got into trouble...

Seriously electric atomosphere for today. Got the hairs on my neck standing up watching on telly, must be amazing to be there.

Gone NZ by 6 on SuperBru FWIW. Running 100% for the year.

Wow what an end to the game the event seems like so much more than just a tri nations game. Well done to the blacks great skill and character.

Didn't log on to post about the game since it was 5am when it finished so I'll try and remember some of the points I was going to make.

I thought it was a really entertaining test, and at 22-22 believed that was a fair result to both sides. I could go either way on McCaw's try, from one angle it looked a conclusive try and then I had some doubts after another view; but IMO the All Blacks had the better of the second half and deserved to score eventually. Worth pointing out though, that I don't think South Africa will be particularly impressed at the build-up to that try with a forward pass from Israel Dagg. As for the winning try to Dagg, great turnover (Mealamu from memory) and subsequent bust through the defense from Nonu; it certainly had me off my seat!

On a few other points - regarding the coverage, the fancy overhead angles work great for soccer but I thought the camera angles from a rugby point of view didn't add anything. I much prefer the camera shots that New Zealand and Australia are able to produce and find those games much easier to watch. Secondly, I propose that Grant Nisbett should be tasered every time he says Francois Steyn when he means Morne Steyn.

I'll pass on your constructive feedback next time I see him :p
 Wouldn't mind it so much if we barely played South Africa and the names of opposition players were less familiar but thats obviously not the case, and he must've mistaken Morne for Francois at least half a dozen times in the test last night.

Nisbo was welly and truly off his game. He kept on getting De Jong, Habana and Aplon mixed up as well as Burger and Smith.
Given Grant's from Wellington I wonder if thats a pun or a typo...

Thought it would be worth mentioning that Daniel Carter's out of rugby for eight weeks to have surgery, so finally the depth at fly-half will be tested with Cruden obviously to start against the Wallabies in a couple of weeks. I guess a talking point too will be whether Weepu is to cover both 9 and 10, or if a back-up specialist number 10 comes into the squad.

Weepu will have to play 9 to do the goal kicking. At least this is what I would do. Don't know who I would bring in to the squad as a back up number 10. Donald is out. You mentioned that Delany is out. You would think it would have to be someone with Super 14 experience so maybe Stephen Brett - yet he isn't playing ten for Canterbury so it won't be him.
I figure the best bet is Weepu. He will have to start at 9 and move to 10 if Cruden gets injured.

Good chance for Cruden to get some experience anyway.
