Australian TV coverage

Am I right in gathering that SBS aren't showing most of the games live this year? So the only option is paying a billion dollars a month for Setanta?

Don't think Australia made it this time around...

Nah, do you usually get it down there? Doubt we get the Asian Championships up here, but have never really looked too hard for it either.

I thought the SBS coverage will be much the same as Euro 2008? We get the Quarters/Semis/Final live, and a highlights package each night for the group games.

Definitely used to. It's a slightly bigger deal than the Asian Championships to be fair.

Beijing was pretty much round the clock sort of stuff - Live during the day and replays of replays through the night - helped with late night boredom when there were no other options...

Just think we should have them in Australia again, except in Cairns or Darwin - The marathon can go through the rainforest/swamp areas...crocodiles are one hell of a motivating force.

what the hell, not happy. I had just assumed that Fox Sports would have the broadcast rights, looks like my plans are screwed then.

EDIT: http://www.setanta.com/au/How-To-Subscribe/Foxtel/ what a bloody rip off.

Yeah. It's like 30 bucks for Setanta for the month, which isn't a huge amount, but it is annoying.

Plus the signup fee, and you're locked into contract for two months minimum. Furious.

Supply and demand. There's a real shortage of quality sport in Australia, so the good stuff is at a premium.

Disappointing there isn't more live coverage this time around. You'd hardly know it was on here.

Which, despite the quality of the players on display, is fair in a sense. It's completely irrelevant to any tourney we're involved in.

SBS must have been rebuffed. Generally speaking, when they cover something they do it properly. Really hoping they've got the next WC locked in. Get these numpty commercial networks showing the best matches on delay, leaving SBS to properly cover the rest, but the games aren't always as good.

Isn't the EPL and the cricket all on pay TV in the UK?
