Which, despite the quality of the players on display, is fair in a sense. It's completely irrelevant to any tourney we're involved in.

SBS must have been rebuffed. Generally speaking, when they cover something they do it properly. Really hoping they've got the next WC locked in. Get these numpty commercial networks showing the best matches on delay, leaving SBS to properly cover the rest, but the games aren't always as good.
SBS have a weird deal for this tournament. They get to show 2 quarter finals, 1 semi and the final live and they are showing 4 of the biggest group matches delayed and when I say delayed, it's about 30 hours after the match! Quite annoying, although their daily highlights show is good.

It's only really the bare-minimum of sport worth watching that's on FTA.

Yeah, that's what I thought.

There's also loads of coverage of less popular stuff, the BBC's extensive coverage of Snooker and Darts for example.

Anything that's worth watching is on pay tv.

IIRC the only stuff on FTA is stuff that's protected by law.

Signed up for Setanta for the cricket Asia Cup a few months back.

Told my flatmate to organise it, he saw some 3 month deal and signed up. Didn't realise the 3 month deal was a 12 month contract but with a discount for the first 3 months. Hence we have Setanta for 12 months.

Was mildly annoyed (I don't watch Scottish soccer or gaelic football), but then when we realised Euro was on it and rejoiced as we would have signed up again anyway and it worked out cheaper this way (as would have had to pay sign on fee again and month-by-month is more exxy than 12 months).
