Cribb shines and Fuller XI take consolation win
Cricket Web Blue Preseason Cricket

Robert Cribb firmly stated his claims as an allround option, as his batting and bowling was paramount in a victory for the Fuller XI over their Camps-led counterparts. Cribb first scored an organized 72 from 96 balls, then took 3-45 to dramatically assist his team's cause.

Sean Fuller chose to bat first, and though Pete Young fell to an ugly swipe in the opening over, it looked an excellent decision heading into the 36th over. It was then that May-Quinlan dismissed Cribb to trigger a dramatic collapse, and the good work of the top order came undone. May-Quinlan went on to take 2 more wickets and finished with 3-42. The Fuller XI was made to scramble to 245-7, a significant departure from the position of 185-2 after 35 overs.

After a slow start, the crowd grew substantially with news that the Camps XI would take their turn at the crease. The many supporters were quickly disappointed with the loss of their hero for a tame 2. When Mamesh followed for 3 soon after, the Fuller XI were in full voice. Jack Ullungura electrified the PDV Dome with a couple of slog sweeps off Adam Collins - one for four and then one for six - but his was a short-lived contribution. He fell for 21 and gave way to Ben Wilshere for the most significant stand of the innings.

Wilshere and DeSilva batted carefully, but fluently, and added 98 runs for the fourth wicket. But Cribb would not be denied. He broke the partnership with DeSilva's wicket, opening the gates to uncertainty. Currie and Wilshere soon followed, and when Geraint Jones holed out for 34, the result seemed certain in favour of the Fuller XI. Shane Lee and Demeza played admirably in an unbroken stand of 22, but could not do so at the pace to required.

Fuller XI 245-7 (50 overs)
RGEWS Cribb 72, JP Bray 68, BJ Goff 52
JP May-Quinlan 3-42, TJ Demeza 2-50

Camps XI 240-8 (50 overs)
MW DeSilva 70, BL Wilshere 49
RGEWS Cribb 3-45, RD Dunn 2-42

Fuller XI won by 5 runs.

2 runs off the last over with 8 needed.
Probably would have been different if you were bowling to someone who atleast knows how to hold a bat .......

Stoked with another couple of wickets, including old Pete'y'boy in the first over.
Shame about Prince taking the match away from us .... but excellent news for us Blues :D

Pretty happy with my start to the season in the warm up matches. A couple of 50s and a few catches. Looks like there is going to be a fair bit of competition for the 2nd openers spot with Cribb and Young both scoring runs in the warm ups. Also we got the new guy Jack who opens the batting as well.

Also nice to see our new fast bowler Jay take some wickets, looks like he might have cemented the 2nd seamers spot in the starting XI.

Laptop working again. But still assume the captaincy, Fuller. I should be away for the next 6 days or so. Just keep morale high and whatnot. I'll run the practice matches when I return.
