Playoff preview:
5D
Ind 'A' (6-0-1) v SA 'A' (5-2)
India have already secured the championship, but the Proteas will be hoping for a win to ensure they finish in 2nd.

NZ 'A' (4-2-1) v Aus 'A' (3-2-2)
* A NZ 'A' win and a SA 'A' loss/draw would give NZ 'A' 2nd place.
* An Aus 'A' win would give Aus 'A' 3rd place.

Eng 'A' (4-3) v Dev XI (2-5)
* If Eng 'A' wins and Aus 'A' loses, England 'A' secures 4th place.
* If Eng 'A' wins and Aus 'A' wins, England 'A' secures 3rd place.
* If Eng 'A' wins and Aus 'A'/NZ 'A' draw, Eng 'A' secures 3rd place.
* Dev XI finishs 6th regardless of other results.

Zim 'A' (1-6) v WI 'A' (1-6)
* The winner avoids relegation by finishing 7th.
------
OD
Dev XI (7-0) v Aus 'A' (6-1)
Coach's comments:
Aus 'A' is hot on our trails in the OD format. We must either beat Aus 'A' in our OD playoff, or not lose convincingly. The NRR Diff. is just 0.30 at this point, so if we lose, we must ensure that it goes down to the wire.

Eng 'A' (4-3) v Ind 'A' (3-4)
Ind 'A' is 0.04 ahead of Eng 'A' in NRR.
* If Ind 'A' win, Ind 'A' finishes 3rd.
* If Eng 'A' win, Eng 'A' finishes 3rd.

SA 'A' (3-4) v WI 'A' (3-4)
SA 'A' is 0.07 ahead of WI 'A' in NRR.
* If SA 'A' win, SA 'A' finish 5th.
* If WI 'A' win, WI 'A' finish 5th.

NZ 'A' (2-4) v Minnows (0-7)
The Minnows have already been relegated... it's just about pride now.
* Unless WI 'A' is whipped beyond belief, NZ 'A' will finish 7th.

Supah Freak

Neil Pickup and Broncoman are on tour in Asia, so Supah Freak plays his first game this season and Mr Mxyzptlk returns. Since this game is only of academic interest, the order may be shuffled and I will try to allow everyone a shot at the bowling crease.

I simmed all the 5D playoffs today because I want to speed up the season so it will finish sooner.
----------
India A 265 & 451/9d
South Africa 'A' 247 & 252

India A won by 217 runs

Man of the match: Vijay Bhardwaj

India A take care of the formalities and win the 5D trophy.
----------
Australia 'A' 372 & 264
New Zealand 'A' 575/7d & 63/1

New Zealand 'A' won by 9 wickets

Man of the match: Rob Nicol

NZ A stick with the plan and finish with the silver.
----------
England 'A' 393 & 234/4d
Cricketweb XI Devs 252 & 285

England 'A' won by 90 runs

Man of the match: Jamie Troughton

Coach's comments:
I shuffled the order to give some players a chance to get some runs. The most noticeable change was batting Bugssy and Marc at 6 and 7, but they were still forced to rescue the innings as usual. Altogether a decent finish to the season, but we desperately need to sort out the bowling during summer training.

----------
West Indies 'A' 145 & 520/8
Zimbabwe 'A' 340

West Indies 'A' draw with Zimbabwe 'A'

Man of the match: Craig Evans

Zim A do what was required and avoid relegation due to previously beating WI A in their first round matchup.
----------
Check out the Season 2 5D All Star team.

Liam, ever thought of opening with me and Bugs?

We bat well as a pair, and that would ensure wwe get to bat together?

I'd be too afraid that you guys would get out early and that would more than likely leave the batting to collapse.

If we had one more consistent bat I might consider it.

Once AGAIN i chipped in with magnificant little cameos there, that 25 in the first innings was masterstroke.:D

It's all well having little cameos, but without 2 or 3 solid scores, the team's going to struggle.

Bugs and I did our best, but can't carry 9 others!

This team reminds me of the Season 1 CW Devs. On that occasion, Neil and Hoggy were basically the only potent bowlers, having to carry the bowling attack except for the odd time or two.

Coach's comments:
This is it guys. It now or never. Australia A beat us to the top spot last season, but this season we are not only chasing gold, but also chasing perfection. We can do this. Aus A have only lost to us this season, but they have an excellent batting team. If there was any time that the bowlers need pull it together, it's now.

The team looks a bit different from the usual. Rik, Master Blaster and Mr Mxyzptlk return to the team. Mr Mxy will open with Bugssy. The purpose of this move is to allow Bugssy to bat as many overs as is possible. Rik has had some success at #3 in the past at various levels of CW cricket. Marc71178 will hopefully lend a solid hand to the fragile middle order.

With Age and Eyes, we have specialist batting down to #6. Then we have allrounders until #10. Therefore we bat very deep. This tactic is hopefully to ensure that we don't get bowled out within 50 overs. This is because even if we don't win, we can still take the title if we can hold Aus A enough to beat them on NRR.

Everyone get a good night's rest (and no cheese). Games don't come much bigger than this....

Benaud: Welcome one and all to the seashon final of the CW Dev League. Here we are awaiting the shtart of a feature game. The shtadium is electric, it's a full houshe without a doubt. In addition to many prominent cricketers such as Rikki Clarke and Ajit Agarkar, many of the beautiful celebrities have also attended. Michael Jackson and Yoko Ono, Avril Lavigne, the Powerpuff Girls and many othersh are in attendance.

Holding: The CW Dev XI had the luxary of playing at home and prepared a flat batting wicket for their Aussie visitors. Let's go to David Hookes who's with the two captains in the middle...

Hookes: Thank you Mikey. I'm here with Umpire Money and Greg Blewett as they prepared to call.

Blewett: Heads.

Umpire Money: Tails.

Hookes: Heads it is. What would you like to do?

Blewett: We're gonna have a bat. It looks a good flat pitch and I think we could get some good runs on it early then leave the Devs to chase under lights.

Hookes: Good luck to both of you guys. That's the story here and it's back to Richie Benaud and Michael Holding in the commentary Box.

Benaud: Thanks Hooksey. Well the batsmen are out in the middle and Umpire Money is shetting hish field - there are two shlips, a gully, a cover point, a short extra cover, a wicketkeeper, a midwicket, a midon, a bowler, a long leg and a midon just outside the circle.

Holding: Here's All Star Mr. Ponting getting ready to run in to Greg Blewett. He had a slow start to the season but has had a very good second half and overall a very solid season. Recently he's developed a good outswinger which has troubled the batsmen no end. Here he comes, into Blewett...
