In form in both forms of the game - must be a cold day in Hell right now. :) Happy with that, very happy. Quite impressed with Pimpkins, I have to say.

Cricket Web Red vs Cricket Web Colts
OD - Chef de Groot Trophy - CW Oval

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

The signs continue to encourage for Cricket Web Colts in the early season going. Recovering from an awful one-day showing in Season XIII, they completed a second consecutive win, beating Cricket Web Red comfortably at CW Oval. It was an exceptional team effort and very professional performance.

Taking first strike the Colts were away solidly with 59 runs coming in the first 14 wicketless overs. The first Red breakthrough came from the least likely of sources- Gaurav Nayak picked up Dan Rai (23) and Mike Wilson (0) in a double-wicket maiden. But any potential pressure from the quick wickets was nulled comfortably by Will Kerr, settled at the crease, and Chris Butler, desperate for a good score. The CW Red resources strained as the two batsmen glided past half-centuries. Butler was particularly at ease, notching 8 fours and reaching 61 from 50 balls when he was trapped on the back foot by Kingsley Clapham.

The score was then 162-2 into the 35th over, a fitting platform for a large score. Kerr and Towns launched into Clapham to accelerate the scoring, then the latter chipped a Bennett full toss to Aseem Sharma in the deep. Clapham returned cut Kerr 18 runs short of a century, caught in the deep for 82. But a series of cameos, headed by Fjermestad's 34 not out, kept the innings on target to reach 273-7. The score flattered a pitch which still offered a fair amount for the fast bowlers, and the young Colts operated exceptionally with the new ball to prove it.

Kyle Wright removed Jamee Gray (0) with his second ball, but Nathan Spinks proceeded to steal the show. His pace was clearly uncomfortable for the Reds to negotiate, as Matt Luff first showed when he lost his offstump. Aseem Sharma joined him in the pavilion with 7 to his name, and after Dauth moved breezily to 33, he too was beaten by Spinks and bowled comprehensively. An already dire 51-4 quickly became 64-6 after Tarick Weber struck twice in his first over and the Reds threatened to collapse for less than 100. The situation called for some application to recover pride and salvage the net run rate. In turn Gaurav Nayak dug in for 36 while David Kearsley tried to do the impossible and set up an unlikely chase. Kearsley brought up a brave 50, but without adding to his score he flashed at Spinks and was caught smartly behind point. Clapham and West collected a boundary each but CW Red surrended for 176 to lose by 97 runs.

Cricket Web Colts Innings 273-7 (50 overs)
WA Kerr 82, CR Butler 61, YA Fjermestad 34*
GN Nayak 2-44
Cricket Web Red Innings 176 all out (46.3 overs)

Masters XI vs Cricket Web Black
OD - Chef de Groot Trophy - Casston Reserve

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Dominant as ever, Cricket Web Black stayed perfect this one-day season by thrashing Masters XI with 22.4 overs to spare. Nath Patrick, in the form of his life, ensured that the Blacks would not have much to chase, and they tracked down the target comfortably due to the brilliant batting of James Stedman.

Patrick picked up the prized Brian Lara with his first ball of the match and caught the thin edge of Dale Benkenstein's bat before the over was through. The Masters XI recovered to 70-3 and then slipped into collapse mode again. Unsurprisingly Patrick was the trigger. He snapped up Luke Ronchi, caught behind for 32, then Thomas Odoyo (4) before he was set. The key wicket of Justin Kemp came when he failed to clear mid-off on 48- Blake Donald celebrated his only wicket of the game. Brief recovery came via a partnership of 45 for the seventh wicket and the tail crumbled to a final total of 172. Patrick took the last wicket of the innings to firm up a 5 wicket haul.

The low total never seemed likely to trouble the Blacks. And even after Ash Chaulk (4) was out in the first over, Stedman and Cloete kept the runs flowing with relative ease. Even as Shane Warne entered the attack there was no respite. He disappeared for three boundaries in his first over and then another two in his second. Saqlain did the trick to get Cloete for 42, then Dan Smith chipped down the track and launched the first ball he saw over long-on. He moved seamlessly to 14 in search of a quick finish, but miscued his pull shot and was caught comfortably by Klusener at midwicket. Alex Blackman departed for 2 but gave way to the solid Gerard Armstrong (23 not out) and a comfortable finish.

Masters XI Innings 172 all out (36.1 overs)
JM Kemp 48, L Klusener 33, L Ronchi 32
NL Patrick 5-44, KJ Gough 2-22
Cricket Web Black Innings 173-4 (27.2 overs)

Cricket Web Green vs Cricket Web Blue
OD - Chef de Groot Trophy - CWBCC Stadium

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Drama was the call of the day at CWBCC Stadium, as Cricket Web Green gave a good account of themselves in a difficult chase. The game wound right down to the wire for a dramatic finish.

The Greens started bouyantly through fast bowler Xavier Rose. He had Sean Fuller caught hooking on 0 and then Camps nicked a wide ball to the gully with 5 to his name. From 12-2 the Blues recovered slowly and then surely. Dinu DeSilva tickled Jack McNamara away for his 50th run, then Pete Young launched him back overhead for a boundary to raise his similar milestone. That was the signal of a dramatic upsurge in aggression, targeted at the luckless McNamara. Young fired a noball straight down the ground for six, then made room to slash a four to maximize upon the ensuing free hit. The noball continued to torment CW Green. In the following over DeSilva guided the ball into the gloves of Dubb-Lynch, but was pleasantly surprised by the umpire's outstretched arm and a distressed Corrin.

Corrin had his misery further confirmed when DeSilva hit another noball for four and was dropped by Rose at long-off a ball later. And just to round out the fashion of the evening, the legspinner bowled DeSilva with yet another noball. Josh Forner somehow reversed the desperate Green fortunes first with the wicket of Young (98), then DeSilva (96). Both men were out tragically short of centuries and the innings threatened to unravel. Alex Crampton took on Rose briefly and then fell to a quick short ball. Only 17 runs were scored off the last 4 overs and CW Green managed to drop 2 more catches and take 2 wickets. The innings ended at 282-7.

The match could have proceeded down a one-sided path, but the Greens got after Camps immediately and took 11 from the first over of the innings. They moved serenely to 44 and Nick Scott played on to Sriram at that venture. Manan Shah chipped in with the wicket of Malone (4) and invited Corrin to the crease with the required rate approaching 6. The allrounder put his bowling troubles behind him briefly and rotated the strike well in a quick innings of 33. Ben Read raised 50 and eased to 70 and then offered a thin edge to Crampton behind the stumps. The Greens were still ahead of the run rate, but lost wickets at inopportune times to fall under increasing pressure.

Most notably Andrew Garven played around a Sriram delivery immediately after reaching 50. A Fuller maiden sent the requirement close to 8 and Rose and Dubb-Lynch reponded by forcing into Sriram for a 15-run over. And when 10 more came an over later, CW Green needed 30 from 30. The last toss of the dice saw Andy Maina recalled after a poor earlier spell and he outfoxed Dubb-Lynch (33) with a slower ball first up. He could have had Rose too, but Shah dropped the catch at long-off. Heading into the penultimate over CW Green stood on 270-7, still 13 short of the target. Rose was well set on 20 and Bryce Cunningham due for a score in one-day cricket. Maina charged in and ensured that neither player would be a factor. Cunningham was struck in front of offstump 2 balls into the 49th over and Maina wrapped the innings up within the next 4 balls, leaving Rose helpless at the other end. The triple-wicket maiden secured one of the most dramatic finishes in Dev League history and left a miserable CW Green team ruing missed opportunities.

Cricket Web Blue Innings 282-7 (50 overs)
PE Young 98, MW DeSilva 96
XPA Rose 5-55
Cricket Web Green Innings 270 all out (49 overs)
BS Read 70, AJ Garven 50, DY Dubb-Lynch 35
AEK Maina 4-49
Cricket Web Blue won by 12 runs.
Man of the Match: AEK Maina

LolManan. All that talking up for this.

Seriously though, huge loss for us. Maina's doing well, though. Personally, can't help but feel I'm going for way too many runs.

I wonder how long it's been since we won an OD by such a margin! Great showing by our bowlers.
I also wonder how long it's been since we've won 2 in a row.

Always a treat to defeat Red especially in OD games, and especially by a large margin. Hope Clapo goes insane from the loss tbh.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Anothr OD win, slightly shocked tbh.
As am I. It'll probably turn out that we've been collectively smoking peyote for the last month, and that we haven't actually won a OD match, nor are we rappelling down Mt Vesuvius.
