Well **** on plenty of counts. Bowling was woeful in the 2nd dig. Also, despite Young making a century to gain them a draw, what's with Stedman not being MOTM? I'd take 2 hundreds over that.
And yet Young's innings was more relevant to the result than Stedman's two hundreds.

Masters XI v Cricket Web Red
Casston Reserve

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

A close encounter at the Casston Reserve went deep into the final over, when Lance Klusener lashed the penultimate ball over mid-off and to the boundary. The Masters XI won by 5 wickets and celebrated their achievement with due vigor.

At no point did the pitch play comfortably for the batsmen. The third wicket stand between Rob Dauth (53) and David Kearsley (48) took shape of 95 runs but it was more a display of determination than class. Lance Klusener in particular applied pressure in the middle overs, bowling quick offcutters on a tight line and proving very difficult to dispatch. Ultimately, although Cricket Web Red batted all 50 overs, they managed only a score of 194-7.

In stark contrast Brian Lara was in flowing form from the moment he entered at 8-1. He advanced easily to 40 from 52 balls and fueled a stand of 80 for the second wicket. After his demise to a careless run out, Dave Watt trapped Wavell Hinds (42) lbw with a full delivery. Dale Benkenstein was joined by Inzamam-ul-Haq with less than 4 runs needed per over and 26.2 overs remaining. Given the comfortable equation the batsmen took their time and batted through 43 overs until 175-3.

The 44th over was started with a sharp catch to remove Inzamam (22), leaving Klusener to join Benkenstein in a South African pairing. Only 20 runs were needed and 41 balls remaining, so the batsmen continued to play carefully, aside from a couple of wild swipes by Klusener. The game wound down to the last over and the Masters were 4 runs short of their target. Watt started the crucial over by striking Benkenstein on the toe with a yorker and removing him for 66. Geraint Jones was made to come in under pressure and pushed his second ball to cover for a sharp single. The next ball Klusener smacked a full toss to mid-off, only to see Raghav put it to ground. It was the last chance for the Reds to take the game, and Klusener clubbed the next ball over Raghav's head and away for four.

Cricket Web Red innings 194-7 (50 overs)

Cricket Web Blue v Cricket Web Black
PDV Dome

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Wickets tumbled at the end of both innings at the PDV Dome, and Cricket Web Blue fought back to bowl out Cricket Web Black in the 48th over and achieve a thrilling tie.

The Blues batted first at the call of the returning Dan Smith, and Kev Gough removed both openers in his first spell. Dinu DeSilva and Stephen Young picked up some momentum for their team with a partnersip of 148, leading the innings into the 40th over at 165-2. Gough began the second over of his final spell, searching out a thin edge of DeSilva's bat for 73. It was the first wicket of a memorable collapse and an historic bowling performance. He was helped on by some desperate slogs and brilliant outfield catching, particularly by Neil Pickup, but he bowled with pace and, crucially, deadly reverse swing. Amidst his haul of 7 for 31 he took a hat-trick of wickets, starting by trapping Stephen Young lbw for a determined 68.

CW Blue lost their last 6 wickets for 35 runs and finished the innings on a modest 218-9. Few would have counted them in with a chance at that stage, but Pete Young took a blinder at backward point off a full-blooded cut shot from James Stedman (12). The bowling quickly fell away to lacklustre from that point on, and the odds steepened toward the Blacks at 135-1. Desperate for a breakthrough Demeza recalled Camps to the attack. He bowled with an old ball and searched for the same reverse swing that Gough used so beautifully. First Camps removed Chaulk for 56 and Alex Blackman chipped a slower ball disappointingly to extra cover before he had scored. Armstrong did better in scoring 4, then he too was out to Camps.

The Blacks had slipped to 154-4 but still looked in control as Smith joined a Cloete, well-entrenched at the crease. The celebration was then euphoric as Luke Tyson pulled off a scarcely believable one-handed catch to end the innings of Cloete. He was out for 76 and CW Blue tightened up the field in search of an historic win. Sriram, the medium pacer, charged in with the energy of a Jeff Thomson, and he produced an unplayable outswinger to get Gelman for 0. Before the over was out he bowled Dave Richards with an inswinger, leaving Kev Gough to partner his captain with 54 still needed.

The big fast bowler did admirably in both defence and attack, contributing a handy 14 to a partnership of 41 with his captain. Just as he looked to have done enough, Tyson fielded a firm drive by Smith and fired a return in at mid-off to run out Gough. Suddenly the game was alive again, and even more so when Fuller caught Smith out with a sharp bouncer. His attacking instincts took over and he rocked back into a hook shot, only skying a simple catch to Sriram in the deep. The last wicket pairing of Kexing Su and Neil Pickup was hardly one to inspire confidence. Still Su took his job seriously and late cut Collins delicately for four in the 47th over. In the 48th, with the requirement down to 4, he drove Fuller through the covers and pushed hard for three runs. The batsmen shook hands, having levelled the score, then Pickup faced Fuller in search of the winning run. He left the ball twice and then chokingly clipped a legside half-volley into the lap of Williams.

Cricket Web Blue 218-9 (50 overs)
MW DeSilva 73 (103), S Young 68 (107)
KJ Gough 7-31 (10), NS Pickup 2-37 (10)

Cricket Web Black 218 (47.5 overs)
AP Cloete 76 (96), AP Chaulk 56 (55), DP Smith 30 (52)
LA Camps 4-45 (10), G Sriram 3-42 (10)

Match tied.
Man of the Match: KJ Gough (Black)

Cricket Web Colts v Cricket Web Green
Fardin Qayyumi CC

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

The Cricket Web Colts top order floundered again, and despite the late heroics of Mike Wilson, Cricket Web Green secured a comfortable win on the road. The Greens defended 244-6 with relative ease and contributions from all of their bowlers.

CW Green batted slowly at the outset, scoring under 4 runs per over until the end of the 41st over. The most impotent period of the innings came between the 21st and 28th overs, when CW Green scored only 11 runs. Rob Malone jr. (70) and Ben Read (42) held things together through the struggling period, pushing the spinners for odd runs. The first intent of attack was signaled by Martyn Corrin, using his feet and hitting Tarick Weber for consecutive boundaries to end the 41st over. He compiled a half-centuy at a healthy strike rate, eventually out for 57 off 55 balls. With him for the most part was Darren Dubb-Lynch who was even better with 19 balls needed for his 29. From the final 11 overs CW Green scored an impressive 95 runs and set 245 for the Colts to chase.

All the momentum was with CW Green when the Colts took guard, and Xavier Rose ensured it stayed there. The CW XI fast bowler continued his good season by taking 3 wickets in his first spell. Among his victims was Chris Butler, caught in the slips for a duck. CW Colts never properly recovered from the woe of 27-3, though Wilson played some inventive shots in a knock of 61.

Cricket Web Green innings 244-6 (50 overs)
R Malone 70 (110), M Corrin 57 (55), BS Read 42 (71)

Wow, amazing match. Can't complain with a draw from the position we were in, though one feels when they were 7 down it was our match to lose anyway.

hmm, dont know how to feel about that game. Complex mix of emotions. Disappointed with the tie but then it could have been so much worse.

What an absolutely gun performance by Goughy. Don't mind being behind him in the wickets stake at all, to be honest.

However, my inability to convert my OD form to the longer version of the game is mystifying.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Our bowlers did an okay job there. We started off extremely tight and took some wickets but got a bit expensive towards the end.

But then the batting decided to take a day off. Griffin, Jasotharan, Butler and Fitzsimmons - simply failed. Only Wilson, Law and Malthus did anything of note.

Can only cross fingers and hope for the next match.

Wow, a tie. Some excellent viewing from Dinu and Stephen.

Sean should have the pill in his hand earlier in the innings with his bowling form of late. More wickets for G and Liam, too.
