So long as you guys can pull off another of those last-wicket wins over CW Red like you did last season, I think everyone will be happy. :D

Go write a poem, Towns.
The Captain and the Colt.

Experience ran over the seam
That wrapped around the leather
Not a cloud was in the sky
'twas hot and sunny weather

Bat knocked the ground, once and twice
And so in Kyle Wright ran
Mørk defended, one dot ball
Season nine began

Partnership of 50 runs
Hancock brought in for Wright
Norwegian edges, caught behind
Rookies bring back the fight

Dobson managed eighty-five
But run out after that
Reds tally two-fifty-five
With their first innings bat

Thomas takes four wickets
Establishing his name
It's halfway through the second day
Will batsmen do the same?

Colts openers put on sixty-seven
But then both fall before forty
Loganathan picks up more
And he's looking pretty haughty

Nayak and Watt come in to strike
But another Nayak holds on
Brother bowls to brother
Hit for six, that ball is gone!

But they fail to get the upper end
Out for two-twenty-six
Time for bring back the Colt bowlers
To knock over some sticks

Third over and captain strikes!
Dobson, leg before
Thomas soon puts his name up
And he'll soon get more

Dauth tallies forty-three
Relatively plenty
As after Markus' stand
No Red can tally twenty

Wright had set his bowlers well
All six had taken strike
And once again Cameron and Kennett
To the pavillion hike

One-fifty-two the Reds had made
So Colts needed one-eighty
But Mamesh would fall for one
And trudge back with bat weighty

Hancock, Towns, Cook follow suit
Four down for twenty-nine
But Jaso and Howler come together
And oh, how they combine

And so it came that Malthus-Howell
Scored the Colts first ever fifty
Unfortunately that's all he got
His next shot not so nifty

Before another run is scored
Two more batsmen are down
One-fifty on the board
Wright walks in with a frown

Kennett has now six scalps
And he's gunning for one more
Watt has taken all three others
These two you can't ignore

Twenty-nine more runs needed
Nine Colts have been sent back
Unfortunately for Robbins
In the field he's looking slack

Kennett strikes! But Marc, he drops!
That's the end of the third day
No more light, they spend a night
Before the final say

Wright and Thomas restart their stand
Against Kennett and Watt
All four are ready, but alas
The fielders, it seems, have not

Gray drops Wright, a simple chance
Tailenders carry on
And then it's once again Robbins
Another chance has gone

Now it's sixteen runs to go
Wright hitting three and three
Thomas two, Wright two and two,
Is this it? Could it be?

No! Markus misses a simple chance
To run young Thomas out
It's either two runs or a wicket left
In this Colts vs. Reds bout

A call for focus in the field
Marc wants to end this folly
Dave Watt runs in, Thomas skies it high
He's given Marc a dolly!

But no! Oh dear! He's let it down!
The bowler can't believe it!
Such an simple catch, but alas
Robbins could not achieve it

Watt heads back to his mark
Comes in for a dot ball
But the next one is hit away
One run is the call

It's all tied up now - just one more run
And Thomas at the crease
Watt and Robbins set the field
The suspense will not ease

Watt checks his mark, looks up to Thomas
Willow taps the ground
Bowler runs in, skips in the air
The crowd don't make a sound

But oh, they roar when the ball is struck
And would you fancy that,
Those who opened this match with ball
Win it with the bat

Red faced, off go the Red team
Trudging back, heads low
But running out onto the ground
The winning Colts team go

The Captain and the Colt fought back
When from loss, they were a wicket
This truly has been a marvellous day
Of CricketWeb Dev League Cricket.

First poem that isn't just 4-8 lines that I remember doing in about 2-3 years, too. :p

Based on a true story. ;)

Can I just ask who would be interested in opening in the FC games? I know we have Jaso and myself from last season as well as our new lad, Pitt, all ready for OD opening if required, however I also know that I tend to get my big scores when batting at #4 in FC. With Mamesh gone and no other players excelling in that area from last season, we'll have to keep our eyes open for FC openers.
I'm an opening bat allrounder, so I'll do it in FC if you want.

Haha, no fuss.

Alright! After some discussions with Liam and Age, Kyle and I have now set us up with 16 players that should hopefully be our official team - we don't have any more discussions planned as we finally have managed to get a good balance. Our team...

Cricket Web Colts (16)
KS Wright (C) - bowler/fast medium
SJ Burke (wk) - batsman
S Jasotharan (wk) - batsman
DP Towns - batsman
AS Das - batsman
P Bharat - batsman (FROM GREEN)
JB Malthus-Howell - batsman
MJ Pitt - batsman/offspin [rookie]
G Nayak - batsman/fast medium
AJ Fensome - allrounder/left batsman/offspin [rookie]
DK Rai - allrounder/legspin (FROM GREEN)
NR Hancock - allrounder/medium fast
DJ Comley - allrounder/left chinaman
JP McNamara - bowler/left offspin
GM Thomas - bowler/fast
CD McKern - bowler/fast

Please welcome all of our four new players to the team, and also if anyone is able to get McKern (cameeel) and Das (Dasa) to sign in, that would be great - it'd also mean I don't have to bother with the second part of my now unsightly signature. :p I've emailed them but I know Callum has been online again but still not signed in, so we'll see how it goes. Das hasn't been online at CW since I emailed him so he possibly just has to get online and he'll be sorted. :)

Also, feel free to list off your emails and/or MSN names so we can contact you for any other team-matters in the future if there's something important that comes up. I know a lot of you have posted them already but that's a lot of posts to dig through. :p Also helps for those who have changed email etc.

Yeah welcome to the imports, you'll have fun with the Colts. What are the new guys' forum names? I know Pitt is Barney, but not sure about the other three.

Dan Rai is Majin, Pooja Bharat is Resha (the only female in the league, I believe) and Fensome is Chubb. :)
