CWBCC Fast Bowling Academy

International Debutant
CW Fast Bowling Academy

Fast bowlers have been around in the system since day dot. However recently there has been an influx of good quality young pace bowlers who are stirring it up a bit. The main reason the CW Fast Bowling Academy has been set up is to harness the true talent of these bowlers coming through the Development League and to provide the national XI a constant stream of quality seam bowlers in the years to come.

Players will hone their skills alongside CW's best coaches in various aspects of the game, from the run-up to the mental aspect, the coaches are there to provide guidence. We have the latest technology at our fingertips to help us analyse performances from gamedays, and net sessions. Alot of importance will be placed on the players bowling action, correcting any flaws at an early stage, and therefore extending their playing careers.

Now to introduce the staff of the Academy...

Dave Watt - Head Coach
ODI's - 13 Games, 19 Wickets @ 30.11, Econ: 5.03, SR: 35.89, BB: 3/33
First Class - 81 Games, 365 Wickets @ 27.19, Econ: 2.94, SR: 55.41, 13x5w, 2x10w, BB: 7/54
List A - 82 Games, 159 Wickets @ 24.61, Econ: 4.63, SR: 31.86, 6x4w, 2x5w, BB: 6/35

Dave is 1/3rd of one of the most lethal domestic pace attacks over the past few seasons. He is the founder of the Academy idea, and will be overseeing most of the organisational work, and specialising in the 1D bowling aspect.

David Kennett - 5D Coach
Test - 11 Games, 24 Wickets @ 40.63, Econ: 2.54, SR: 95.83, BB: 4/30
First Class - 103 Games, 401 wickets @ 27.18, Econ: 2.73, SR: 59.69, 15x5w, 1x10w, BB: 7/38

Another 3rd of the Reds pace battery who seems to specialise in the longer form of the game. Overcame stress fractures in his back, which nearly saw the end of his career, and now stands high on the all time FC wicket-taking list, with a very healthy average. An old head, who can provide of a lot assistance in analysing actions and ridding them of major flaws.

Kyle Wright - 5D Coach
Test - 20 Games, 65 Wickets @ 31.23, Econ: 2.89, SR: 64.91, BB: 4/60
First Class - 99 Games, 336 wickets @ 32.50, Econ: 2.90, SR: 67.18, 7x5w, 3x10w BB: 6/41

Kyle is the final part of the Reds pace battery who has also committed his services to the academy. He is touted as the Test teams spearhead seamer and has just made his way back into the ODI team after a long absence. Kyle is a veteran of the CW system, and also a valuable member in the Reds leadership group. Will be able to pass on information about the mental hardness required both on and off the field.

Liam Camps - 1D Coach
ODI's - 53 Games, 86 Wickets @ 21.87, Econ: 4.61, SR: 28.44, BB: 4/27
List A - 112 Games, 145 wickets @ 25.90, Econ: 4.93, SR: 31.50, 6x4w, 2x5w, BB:6/32

Liam is the 1D specialist, a certain starter for the ODI team, he is a consistent performer and while not the quickest bowler around, he has accuracy and control down to a fine art. Liam is an asset to any team, and that’s no different when it comes to coaching. He has a vast array of tactical knowledge to pass on in the 1D form of the game.

More information will be released as negotiations are completed, but it is confirmed the successful players will be off to an initial training camp in Perth, Western Australia. Players will get to sample arguably the best pace bowling pitch in the world, participate in the local grade scene and skill benchmarks will be recorded.

The successful players chosen by the CWBCC will be notified privately first, and upon acceptance they will have a meet 'n' greet with the staff, and a tour of our facilities.

Stay tuned, more details to come soon.

Thank You
Dave Watt
Head Coach

I`m thinking of Demeza when I see this thing. =)

Looks awesome for the budding, young pacer. Work Dave, I know you`ve been busy with this.

Do we sign up or get selected? Is it for players who've been playing already or?

:)
I just received a nice little e-mail from Reuben and the CWBCC. :) Guess it doesn't matter that i'm only medium-pace after all.

Oh, BTW, please consider this my acceptance of the offer.
