Norwood's on Fire
Of course. But it does mean that the competition for the guys at home is weaker and so the second tier guys aren't as well developed as the second tier guys from the rich soccer nations. This gives those nations easily exploitable weaknesses.
& yet a big problem for England is our players don’t go overseas. Brazil remain a force while their best players are in Europe. Etc etc

Half the teams in the CWC come from South Asia. Diverse indeed.
Yea Stephens line of thinking does mean that the entire Asian Subcontinent is basically the only place where cricket is healthy. Outside of the Full Members you've got Nepal, UAE, Oman, HK, etc. all in the region too.

You've got just 2 main teams each from Africa and Europe, with a few second tier teams, Australia which counts as its own continent for some reason, a multi nation team in the West Indies, and NZ. It's more diverse sure but also not really.

Are you saying that's not the case? Suppose it depends on your definition of "healthy".

Was the result the tournament needed, never saw any of it but if England had won we'd be virtually certain of the final 4 with a couple of weeks of games still left, would have been very boring. Well done Sri Lanka.
