Richardson isn't a very good death bowler I've noticed. That and a crap 5th bowler might hurt.
Like Pattinson, he's very much honed his craft towards red ball cricket thus far, although unlike Pattinson he's actually put up a few decent performances in ODIs.

Definitely would not be relying on him at the death in a knockout game though. Just too inexperienced.

What a **** end to the great Rayudu experiment. India could have used last 2 years to groom someone like Pant to play in Rayudu's place but they kept persisting with right upto the last ODI series before the world cup. Poor planning and reflects poorly on Kohli's captaincy too who always talked up Rayudu even when he was not proving himself to be up for the job.

Most likely, Shankar will end up being a very poor man's Pandya, who himself has an unconvincing case as to whether he's a proper all-rounder. You need to be close to world-class and consistent in one discipline for that, IMO.

EDIT : Not that I have any great love for Rayudu himself. Probably could have gone for him over Karthik though. He's definitely a better specialist batsman, which is the role Karthik is ultimately being picked for.

Shankar is very much of the Stuart Binny mould as a bowler imo. If he wants a sustained India career he will need to be able to make the team on batting alone I think

Wood, Denly, meh. Rest I agree with. I would probably have put Jordan in there somewhere but I'm not exactly pining for him.

beeb:

'He [Archer] could still make the World Cup if he impresses in the pre-tournament matches as changes can be made up to 23 May.

England play Ireland on 3 May before a five-match series against Pakistan.'

In short, the sqaud hasn't actually been picked yet.

It's weird how Archer is talked off as an incumbent when he hasn't played a single ODI lol. I get he's a super talent but still shows you how meh the bowling is a as ankitj pointed out.
