Australia announce limited overs touring squad

Cricket Australia today confirmed the 14-man squad has been sent across the Bay of Webs to play CWLand's finest. The biggest surprise is that Andrew Symonds is back in the fold following his fishing-related incident, and Matthew Hayden has also made a full recovery from injury.

The touring Australians emulated the Pakistanis with a winning start to their one-day tour, as they surfed to a victory over a reasonably strong A squad on the back of 81 from a belligerent Shane Watson. Cricket Web 'A' struggled in the bowling department, despite including a number of candidates for the full squad.

While batting first, Cricket Web 'A' struggled, with Fuller and Smith having been jetlagged after yesterday night's Twenty20 effort in Goffmouth. They performed reasonably well, yet there was no one to really take charge in the innings - Ben Read played a decent 82, but failed to go on, while de Silva only smashed out late. In the end, Cricket Web 'A' had made 258 for five on a decent batting wicket.

The lack of bowling was shown up, however, by Watson. Eight fours and two sixes were registered in his 64-ball masterclass, and Australia coasted to the target at near bonus-point speed. Ponting and Symonds also played themselves into form.
