The ICC has announced the groupings and format of the upcoming Champions Trophy.

Format:

- 4 groups, with 3 teams each, participating in round robin play.
- The top 2 teams from each group will advance and be placed in two groups of 4.
- The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.

The Cricket Web XI will compete in the relatively weak group C, containing England and Bangladesh. The World Cup runners-up will therefore expect to advance comfortably to the second round.

Group A appears to be the keenest of the bunch, with South Africa, New Zealand, and World Cup Champions, the West Indies.

The Groups:

Code:
[B]Group A Group B	G	Group C Group D[/B]
South Africa	Australia	CW XI India
New Zealand	Sri Lanka	England Pakistan
West Indies	Zimbabwe	Bangladesh	Kenya

Mr Jamme Gray, head schedule maker of the ICC was given the honour of making the schedule and groupings.

He is no relation to the CW Red cricketer Jamee Gray (or that's what they say....)

Yeah I am pumped for this, ODI's are our strength and I think we've been given a great opportunity to at least advance through to the next stage.

When will squads, location etc be announced?

Anyway - GO CW!

Awesome!

We`re in a damn good group, really should go through, we`ve got it over England, and Bangladesh are Bangladesh. Only two games in the initial stage however, so no slip-ups. Should be great.

When does it start, when can we expect the squad to be named and so on?

Sounds exciting.
The venue and the date are yet to be announced by the ICC.. which is still under discussion involving the other boards...

More to come on this in due time.
