Anglo-Spanish Challenge

Last seasons winners of La Liga and the Premier League are in CW Land for an exhibition game.

It is hoped the game will promote the sport in CW Land and raise a great deal of money for local charities.

Both Real Madrid and Manchester United have brought very strong squads but there are notable names that have not made the trip.

Real Madrid Squad

Casillas
Codina
Heinze
Cannavaro
Alejandro
Salgado
Marchelo
Drenthe
Diarra
Robben
Gago
Cassano
Robinho
Bueno
Van Nistelroy
Raul

Did not make the trip
Dudek, Ramos, Torres, Pepe, Metzelder, Saviola, Baptista, Soldado

Manchester United Squad
Van der Sar
Zieler
Bardsley
O'Shea
Brown
Lee
Ferdinand
Pique
Carrick
Fletcher
Gibson
Ronaldo
Park
Scholes
Rooney
Fangzhuo

Did not make the trip

The Game

Both teams arrived at Clowich Stadium surrounded and were mobbed by an eager and football starved CWLand public.

There was electricity and flash photography in the air as legends of the game stepped of their buses. One young girls broke through the barrier and gave Christiano Ronaldo a flower and a big hug.

The fans were split into 3 distinct groups. Those shouting for United, those chanting "Madrid, Madrid" and those just thrilled that 2 of the greatest teams in the history of football were in their fair country.

As game time approached the stadium was alive with noise. With still an hour before kick-off there wasn't an empty seat to be seen anywhere.

The excited crowd shushed for the few minutes it took to announce that all proceeds of this game are to go to charity and announce the starting line-ups

Real looked completely uninterested it seems, either that or Man U played a blinder. Casillas had a poor game between the sticks too.
