There is a Davis Cup tie between East CWLand and West CWLand this week, so players can either choose to accept their spot in the provisional squads or choose to withdraw from national competition.

Also because of the placement of these tournaments (straight after an Open), the cut-offs will generally be a lot lower with around 120 for main draw entry (give or take ten) and 150 to 160 for alternates.

Withdraw from Davis Cup as clearly I would just be a hitting partner unless someone else pulled out.

PBZ ZAGREB INDOORS for Bowenburg please.

Mustard will definitely not be playing any of these tournament to make himself fully available for The Davis Cup.

Despite crashing out first round last year against Oliver Engel (as eighth seed, no less!), Roy Daniels returns to Johannesburg to recover a stolen wallet.

After missing out last year due to a missed flight, Delev is keen to tackle Zagreb.

Maxum will a break from Bowenburg for a tournament (Much as I  him) and just hit the Singles in Santiago please

EDIT: Just checked the Davis cup thread, will play that instead of Santiago

Is it possible for a scrub like Kao to try and qualify for PBZ ZAGREB INDOORS?

If not he would like to qualify for the Challenger event

Yeah mate, I didn't think you would mind me playing in Croatia, due to your Davis Cup commitments.

Some very weak fields this week, but that's to be expected so close to an Open and with many CWLanders on national duty. That all changes in week seven as Rotterdam, the first ATP 500 tournament of the year, is shaping up to be a beauty with eight players inside the top twenty already competiting. In Zagreb, Maarten Berg makes his first appearance on court since Indianapolis just before he required a knee reconstruction.

Zagreb. I think I made the quarters last year, and need to protect those ranking points after an early exit in Melbourne. Should be nice & fresh for it.

Opt out of Davis Cup?
Hohum. I've got to consider it, really. I'm not sure on this, but I presume there aren't any ranking points for the Davis Cup?

I'm going to have to take a week off soon - I was planning on week 7 as I didn't play last year. I need to at least try and stay in the top 30 to guarantee a seeding for Grand Slams.

Maybe I'll hold off until I see the post-Melbourne rankings, but suspecting I'll suffer a big slide.

There are points for Davis Cup, but not a huge amount unless you win the thing.

As it stands, you won't move from No. 31 unless someone ranked below you goes real deep in the Slam (like semis). Clay season is the worry, though.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll go Davis Cup and then play next week and have the week off after? I'm presuming Indian Wells is Week 9? So I can take Week 8 off without losing any ranking points? Maybe gain a few in Week 7 to make up for the 80-odd I lose in Week 6.
