West vs East: Running Total

Pretty simple really - an unofficial running competition through the year to see which country comes out on top. The points system is a simplified and less top-heavy version of the ATP rankings, with extra points available whenever East meets West.

Week 2
Code:
                      Winner Loser Score Points
Sao Paulo R32 M Deane (W) M Bre (E) 6-3 5-7 6-3 W 3-0
Chennai QF J Drake (E) vs S Rivers (W) 6pts
Doha QF S Oxenstierna (W) vs I Genov (BUL) 1pt
Brisbane QF R Smeltz (E) vs L Färkkilä (FIN) 1pt
Total

WEST 3-0 EAST

How does the West get a point from me beating Engel?

Yeah, in smaller tournaments.

Scale is like this

Code:
              W F S Q 16
CW Open 12 7 4 2 1
Slam 10 6 3 2 1
Finals 8 5 3. 3rd-placed group: 1.
Masters 7 4 2 1
ATP 500 5 3 1
ATP 250 3 2 1
Challengers 2 1
All these are cumulative, so it's easier to write 1-1-1 when you sum them in the table. Would be 1-2-2 if it was a 500 tournament for example.

In addition, East-West matches carry these points:

CW Open: 12 pts
Slams, Davis Cup: 10 pts
Finals, Masters, World Team Cup and CWLand ATP: 7 pts
Other ATP, CWLand Challengers: 5 pts
Other challengers: 3 pts
Challenger qualifying: 2 pts

Final week 3 summary

In a week where the three best players of the island took a rest from competitive tennis, the East started well with two crushing wins by Matt Bre and Mat Mitchell, but the three-set come-back by Rick Langley was vital. Langley took the challenger title and picked up five of six points as the West and East shared the spoils in the week before Melbourne's Grand Slam. Langley, who advanced into the top 200 in the world, is without defeat to an Eastern player and thus ranks second in contributions to these standings.

Still tied - but the East can take the lead tonight. The AO doubles win, memorable as it was, does not count.

Counts in Davis Cup.

Not in others because an East/West pairing is possible (and encouraged)
