Munich, Estoril, Belgrade (Finals) - May 4-11 Season I

    BMW Open
    Final - Munich

    Draw - Top Half
    Draw - Bottom Half
    Finals

József Boros has finally ended his poor finals record by claiming his first career crown with a come-from-behind win against Jamaican enigma Oneil Stewart in the final of the BMW Open. A brave Stewart put up an exciting performance against the top seed, but Boros looked intent on making his fourth trip to a final this season a successful one. After dropping the first set to the athletic Jamaican, the Hungarian powered back into the match by grinding out the second set. It seemed fitting that the match went to a third set tiebreaker, but it was there that Stewart's taxing style finally took its toll as Boros sealed a dramatic 3-6, 6-2, 7-6(1) victory.

    Seeds Out: None.

    Estoril Open
    Final - Estoril

    Draw - Top Half
    Draw - Bottom Half
    Finals

World number one Jason Hall has claimed his first title on clay with a straight sets thumping of local Tiago Matias. Despite the second set going to a tiebreaker, Hall never really looked in trouble after breaking his Portuguese opponent's serve early in the first. Whilst Matias clung on for dear life in the second (including a massive nineteen minute service game), he fell well behind in the tiebreaker to concede five match points. Whilst he saved two, it wasn't enough to rob the American of his first clay crowd - Hall running away a 6-3, 7-6(4) victor.

    Seeds Out: 3-Tiago Matias (POR).

    Serbia Open I
    Final - Belgrade

    Draw - Top Half
    Draw - Bottom Half
    Finals

Radivoj Daneu has celebrated a title win on home soil, and a return to the world number two position with a three-set victory over world number ten Miroslav Brdar. The Serb delighted the crowd in the Serbia Open final as he romped past the Croat in the first set six games to two. But the Zagreb champion, Brdar, wasn't going to roll over and die as he got a cruicial break of service early in the second set. The break gave him the edge he needed to level the game at a set a piece, but the humble Serbian took the break between sets to rally himself - and the crowd - up. The shift in momentum worked for the top seed as he took two massive breaks of service from Brdar; breaks of service which proved too big an obstacle for Brdar to overcome as Daneu sealed a momentous victory 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

    Seeds Out: 3-Miroslav Brdar (CRO).

All three top seeds winning. How anti-climactic

Hi guys, I have been upset with my tennis recently so I have rested with my mother, we played some table tennis and drank good beer.

I also made a Facebook page.
Please add me: Rob Bowenburg thank you.

He's not joking either. There's a Rob Bowenburg with one friend - a Robert Cribb.

Considered joining, but found "Rob has no friends." more amusing.

    Next tournaments

This week marks a trial of some Challenger events being implemented. Basically, I've just taken the Tretorn Serie+ events and put them on the calendar when there are Masters and Grand Slam events on. So you have a choice of the Madrid Masters or Lugano .

    Mutua Madrileńa Madrid Open
    Madrid, Spain
    Clay
    ATP Masters Series
    Sgl: 56

    WHAT'S ON OFFER -
    R56: 5 pts / € 7,000
    R32: 35 pts / € 15,000
    R16: 75 pts / € 24,200
    QF: 125 pts / € 46,000
    SF: 225 pts / € 90,000
    RU: 350 pts / € 180,000
    W: 500 pts / € 360,000

    ---

    BSI Lugano Challenger
    Lugano, Switzerland
    Clay
    Tretorn Serie+
    Sgl: 32

    WHAT'S ON OFFER -
    R32: 0 pts / € 520
    R16: 5 pts / € 860
    QF: 13 pts / € 1,460
    SF: 27 pts / € 2,510
    RU: 45 pts / € 4,240
    W: 75 pts / € 7,200

Still unsure on the rankings points for the Tretorn Serie+. 75 seems about right, but the actual series offers 110 points for the winner which sounds a bit steep. Open to suggestions.

Roy Daniels will attempt to qualify for the Madrid Masters

Do career wins/losses count if you play at Lugano? If so Bowenburg to play the Challenger, actually I'll play their regardless.

I'm automatically qualified for Madrid right?

Points for the challenger event sound about right, maybe a bit lower would be more realstic. Making the last 16 of a Masters Series>Winning a Challenger tournament.

In real life they dont, SBI may include them here as I could see how it would make it easier to follow.

I wasn't going to, but I might keep a side tally.

    And yeah, Smeltz is auto-qualified.

How long until Roland Garros? If there's more than a few "weeks" then I'll play the Masters, if it's the next one up I'll have a rest.
