I've done something along the lines of this on another forum where people sign up as tennis players and are entered into the main draws of the various real life competitions around the world. It works for a bit but then I get to the point of having to do rankings and it ****s me over completely.

So what I've decided to do is give it a whirl on here with a completely fictional tennis world (though keeping pretty much the same tournaments) and going from the start of 2009.

Basically you'll get to choose which warm up events you want to compete in throughout the year before we head to the four opens. Note all the results are done by a very simple dice formula - so it isn't very intensive labour-wise.

What I need from you fellas is your representative in the 'game' and ten random names to represent players around the world. I'll decide where they sit (through number generator), but try and make them pretty diverse yet realistic (so we'll keep the number of Kenyan tennis players to a minimum, OK?).

He has a massive forehand and a big serve, relishes big matches particularly Davis Cup on the red clay in Berlin. Usually doesn't bother turning up to grass court events, only plays Wimbledon to get a feed. Once threw a deat rat at the chair umpire after a first round loss at the Adelaide International.

I think this is going to be a lot of fun, how many players do you want minimum on the tour?
Will there be qualifiers for the big tournaments if we aren't ranked high?

I'm hoping for twenty or so CW signups which should means around 200-250 others. Any more than that is obviously a bonus.

After years of wrangling over the child, the tennis-playing mother solved the legal wrangle by running amuck during a tournament in Ulaanbataar after an overdose of orange juice, thus losing all rights to care for the child. Oxenstierna sr. took Sven in, vowing that a) Sven should never drink orange juice again and b) Sven would get a heavier serve than his mother. So far, only a) has held true, and thus Oxenstierna remains a rather dull clay-court specialist who can run up any ball yet is prone to give away 5-2 leads on his own serve.

Ryan Fredericks also know as "ranga" is a red headed individual who likes nothing more than having long drawn out matches on clay. He grew up in outback Australia and had to walk 10km to and from school everyday. He is therefore one of the fittest players on tour and spends most of his free time working out in the gym as well as working on his game. Although generally quite a shy, quiet bloke, he can have unexpected outbursts during a match when things aren't quite going his way.

Not quite sure how I'll start the rankings for the season. I was thinking I'll either do:

a). Use the points scored in 2007 and relate them to random people (problem is I can't find these points); or
b). Start the points system from scratch.

Kinda leaning towards option 2.

I can't wait for the clashes between Fok Wang, Wang Li and Li Ming Wang. :laugh:

SBI I reckon start from scratch would be good.
