More recent games are also given more weighting; a match played five years ago holds pretty little relevance for example. The best advice I can give you is to not try to cheat the system by picking people whose stats you might think are wholly unrepresentative of their quality because most little glitches have been accounted for. Treat it like you're picking it right now in real life, as you seem to have with your first pick, and you'll be absolutely fine.

What players did in this competition last season isn't taken into account by the database - the database is based completely on real life - but in many cases it may be a good indication as to how they'll perform this season unless they've performed a lot better/worse in real life since then.
    Thanks

I had assumed there would have to be some sort of weighting system if only for the difference in tests/fc, just wasn't sure to what extent. Thought I'd make sure thought given peoples reaction to Nevill/Woakes first round selections even though they both have good FC records.

Out of interest, is there any distinction made for wicketkeeping ability in the sim?

Yeah I was thinking that when debating which one of Prior or de Villiers to go for. Doesn't matter now though.

You're only up once, you retained Watto in R1 so only needed to pick R2.

    I'm definitely choosing favourites.

Need to find out some of Daemon's.

Nah. If I were really choosing favourites there'd be four, maybe five names I'd be going for. I already have two of them and another two are already gone.

The main reason I selected Pattinson first was beacuse I thought you'd be gunning for him? Realised afterwards that you don't actually get to pick for the first 3 rounds anyway 8| (not that I regret it ftr, such a gun)

It would be interesting to see how Round 1 of drafting may have looked without the player retentions.

I would still have picked Sachin regardless. He was such a jet in Season 1, and recent form aside he would be hard to beat for a star batsman. Guaranteed to average 30 this season now I say this.

Quite a lot of favourites have gone it seems but I wanted a quality spinner to compliment Harris and Philander so was tossing up between Ajmal and Shakib. Shakib the much better batsman (obvz) and Ajmal got picked anyway (obvz) so was a no contest.
