Decided to bat first on a bowler friendly pitch. Very cloudy and average bounce.

131/4 at lunch. Strike rate wasn't an issue but were found out by the English when they put the ball in the right place. Morning session characterised by Ryder cruising to 33 from 27 before having his middle stump uprooted.

Ingram still there on 33*, and this is about the time he gets out. Oram is with him on 16*. Simon Jones has 2/16.

England in New Zealand: 2nd Test

New Zealand 173 all out

Peter Ingram 45
Jesse Ryder 33

Mathew Hoggard 4/49
Stephen Harmison 3/48

Bugger.

England 410 all out

Alistair Cook 150
Ian Bell 133

Jacob Oram 4/48
Daniel Vettori 3/38 (tail)
Jesse Ryder 3/42

**** off. Bastards were 330/2 at one stage, with Bell and Cook sharing a 228 run stand. Then I brought Oram and Ryder on (who took the first two wickets) and Oram dealt with Cook while Ryder yorked Bell. Collapse followed, with England losing 7/77.

New Zealand 497/9 dec.

Sent them out to block the poms for three days. What was awesome is we did it (thank you rain). Mathew Sinclair and Stephen Fleming take a bow, with McCullum gritting his teeth down the order. Bond too. Everyone bar Vettori and Oram lasted at least 90 balls, and that's what did it. I could have declared on the morning of day five, but I wasn't far enough ahead for my liking. Declared when McCullum got out to spite them. They weren't gonna bowl us out with that h4x attack (they're got some insane stats).

Stephen Fleming 122 (360)
Mathew Sinclair 91 (204)
Brendon McCullum 59 (239)

Stephen Jones 4/138
Mathew Hoggard 3/150

England 41/1

Andrew Strauss 26*
Kevin Pietersen 8*

Shane Bond 1/14

Match Drawn.

New Zealand defeat England 1-0.

Not Terrible
Pretty huge effort from Oram to restrict England to 410 there, would've lost even with that huge batting effort if not for that.

Great series victory over the Windies, and an equally impressive start to your tour of Pakistan!

Pakistan are going to smash me tbh. YK, MoYo and Inzi are averaging around 50 with the bat and their bowling attack is amazing. Waqar Ahmed averages just 17 with the ball. They just became the number 1 team in the world as well.

Maybe they will throw the series.

They didn't pick Waqar Ahmed! Must be injured or something. Now the bowling is just world class instead of invincible.

They also seemed to have dropped Bajiid Khan, who was doing decentish, in favour of Imran Farhart. He just edged a rank Franklin full toss to second slip.

Phew, batted five sessions for that. Things got very worrying when Oram departed with three overs left then Shane Bond got out in the last over. Bruce Martin lasted four balls to save us.

Brendon McCullum holed out yet again for hardly anything. He's been brainless for quite a few tests now, and he dropped an important catch in the first innings. Very tempting to give Sinclair the gloves and move him down to six. I'll give McCullum another test.
