what do u think? 8-)
the same tactic that india is using !!
seems workable to me !!
considering that pakistan has not wicketkeeper that could be called a world class batsmen ..
so instead of making a wicketkeeper bat hard why noy let a batsmen keep the wicket s ??

IMHO... younus way better than dravid in keeping the wicket any ways !! so why not ???

Why would Pakistan need a batsman as a wicket-keeper, when they have a wicket-keeper who is quite good a batsman in Moin Khan?

There was a time when Moin Khan was considered a specialist enough batter that he played in the same team with Rashid Latif, who donned the gloves.

It is strange the reviews and after the match reports that i am seeing all say that he seemed much better than a make shift wicketkeeper...it sure is a positive sign for Pak ODI squad, and as much as i am against the Part timers.....if he is as good as reports suggest today ....may be he could change my mind.......

Him and Dravid.....Younis was surely much better fielder than Dravid in out field...(dravid was specialist in close in position but Younis ws a good all round fielder so stamina shouldnt be an issue either. )so one more point that helps him in new position....

Pak did play bothe Rashid and Moin in same tournment it was Golden Jubilee cup(Pak, WI, SA, SL) in Nov 1997 in Pak, where Rashid kept the wickets and Moin played as specialist batsman....the decision to play him as batsman almost went in Pak's favour where in one game Shaun Pollock had Pak three down for one in first over (Saeed LBW 1st ball, than Aamir and Ijaz on final two balls. )

Well seriously I am not in favour of trying any non specialist Wicket Keeper ..
I really dont . Moin is perfect for spinners but he is not too good for the seemers . Rashid in general was one of the best wicket keepers of the world .. WIcket keeping position if not taken seriously can prove itself to be a constant headache for a cricket team ... Take an example of India and WestIndies . So there is aneed for a young blood and that guy should be trusted for atleast like 1 year or so . So that he can prove his abilities without getting the fear for being dropped in the next match ..

I think Inzemaam would be a better one to be tried behind the stumps. One foelder less to hide :D

Come to think of it there are lots of talenmted batsmen around the world who almost never bowl. Get them to keep wickets and increase the number of all roundewrs in the team. I propose Lara for WIndies, Smith for SAfrica, Fleming for Kiwis and Trescothick for England.

Pits and pieces players all rule the roost :p

So if we have the marmite bowler, what can this new breed of part time keeper be?

LE, it's over to you.

It will be a shame if Moin Khan retires from ODIs before WC2007.
He deserves the chance to right his omission from WC2003.

It's been said about him for ages, yet he comes back every time...

When, actually, was the last time he was dropped before his long absence after being stripped of the captaincy?
I'm sure he was in the team for at least 3 years non-stop before that - as FRAZ said earlier, on occasions as a specialist batsman.

does anyone remember a bloke called Humayon Farhat, Imran Farhat's brother. He was a very decent keeper and was a very good attacking batsman, does anyone remember him and why was he dropped?

Humayun Farhat, a very good batsman!
That's one I've not heard before!
Imran's no great shakes, either...

He hangs around the LCA ground, in Lahore. Something to do with U-19 trials
