For all you Ganguly haters...

I was looking over gangulys ODI stats today.
36% of his centuries were scored against the likes the kenya, namibia, bangladesh and zimbabwe.
Tendulkar sits at 27%
Lara 16%

Seems like the indians play the easy beat teams often and their records benefit from them, mainly Ganguly.

Its easy to beat up on the lightweights but against the likes of australia he has only got 1 century.
His stats flatter him.
Well if you look at it the other way, Ganguly has scored 64 % of his ODI 100s against the major test playing nations and that's an impressive 14 100s. And Zimbabwe wasn't at all in the same league as the other minnows you mentioned till recently, and so if we count the 3 100s he scored against them, then 78 % of his 100s were scored against the test playing nations. That's 17 ODI 100s which is probably second only to Sachin among the current ODI players if you apply the same rules of omitting the 100s against minnows, and probably better then all except Sachin and Jayasuriya even if you don't apply the same rules.

That's impressive stats which justifies his claims as one of the all time great ODI player.

Well So was the Indian Attack. Warnie has never been effective against India and I think Stuart macill did a better job. Gillespie was there, Lee was there. So only people who really missed out and could have made the difference were Glen Mcgrath and some Australian Umpires(Although Bucknor didn't let us miss aussie umpires).
This has been brought up before (not sure if it was here) but Gillespie and Lee were coming back from injury so could hardly be considered at the top of their game, but yes they were there. You can't really suppose as to the effect Warne may have had on the latest series, but yes MacGill did do a better job than Warne in the series - as you said, Warne didn't play. As for the umpires, people in glass houses.......
