He is the greatest allrounder in the world and all, but I'm not really sure that Flintoff is the 14th best bowler in the world.

But then-I look at the ones immediately beneath him and realise that, if they're up there, maybe he deserves to be 14th

For every game in the time he's out he'll drop 1% - but I'm not sure how many games they have scheduled in the next 4 months?

A bowler who's out cannot maintain his rating, it has to slowly subside.

1% does that fairly, as even missing 5 games won't cost that many points.

Another indicator of the ludicrousy of injuries costing rating.
so if a player who is ranked top gets injured and is out of the game for 2 years, he should keep his top ranking then just because of what he did before his injury

Shane Warne hasn't too badly for somebody who was suspended for 12 months.
absolutley...thats because the rest did him good and he has come back performing as well has he ever has done

yeah..big time i think in this one...he is bowling really well...thats why I think all these Indian fans who go on about India smashing Warne all over the place are going to be shown up a bit in the up coming series

India is the one place he hasn't done well in, although to be fair to Warne he was injured/or back from injury and like they say if Warne doesn't break the world record there, then he never will.

I hope in the name of God he gets the world record in India.
Otherwise poor Murali will be forced to stay away for even longer (may be) !!! :D

He is punished for being injured.
IMO that's wrong.

A bowler who opts out yes, but not one who's forced out.

the emphasis with these ratings is on current performance..if the guy isnt playing he has no current performance....in some ways it can work in the players favour...what if they were playing and the performances were in free fall

From what I seem to have seen some players (Harmison, McGrath for example) haven't lost very many points for poor performances.

did you not know..the formula has an inbuilt bit to it which favours all English and Australian players
