WTF has the BCCI been doing ?

Strange indeed...
Can't think of any particular reason.
Well, except maybe that two overseas tours to one home tour has been the norm of recent years.

Hopefully the schedule for the upcoming South Africa series is an indication that they intend to reverse the trend a little.
2 Test-matches, no ODIs.
With Australia's Tests, of course, they've already played the ODIs, the TVS Cup that time last year.

I think that was more due to the ICC and SA though...

If The BCCI want something, there's nothing any other Board, and certainly not ICC, can do about it!
No matter who likes it or not, India can play what cricket their Board wants.

So how come they changed their original plan of ODI's then?
When was that, then?
And how come we've seen several examples, most notably the farce of 2001\02 and the Sehwag\unofficial-Test where they held both the UCBSA and ICC to how they wanted it.

Yes, I kind of guessed when the series you meant was, what I was saying was when did they plan some ODIs in the South Africa tour?

Interesting... so someone has finally stood-up to The BCCI and not been bashed down...
Equally amazing that India might actually have realised their obligation to put the long-term interests of cricket ahead of their short-term financial gain.
Looks like, at the time of the idea to bin the planned Australia ODIs, they were still planning to play ODIs only against SA. So maybe they changed the two ideas at different times.
Nonetheless, aren't they still in contradiction to ICC's policy of a one-day series having to be played, given that they aren't planning to play a Ind-RSA ODI series between 2000 and 2005?

Its no surprise NZ have played less because they usually get given only 2 or 3 tests in a series.

Only because the amount of injuries they get, a 4 or 5 Test Series would mean they need a squad of about 30! ;)
