Why?

Harmison was number 2 before that last game.
10 Harbhajan 635 28.47

10 Richardson 761 47.94

and mcgrath and warne below harmison (and maybe a few others) doesnt work for me. and also inzy above sachin (tho that is understandable)

McGrath and Warne have missed a lot of cricket - hence they lost a fair few points.

Also, McGrath's form in the Bangladesh games wasn't good, and that will really cause a loss of points owing to the quality of opposition!

What? Do you think Richardson doesn't deserve to be there?

the idea of harbhajan ranked no 10 is laughable and how lara is ahead of kallis i'll never know. perhaps the 400* on a placid wicket matters more than scoring 5 centuries in 5 tests

It all depends where they were ranked b4 these feats.

yaeh I agree about Harbhajan, whether injured or not, he has done very little in test cricket for quite some while.

Lara!!!!Well he has scored some big big runs (apart from the 400*) over the last 18 months

Lara's 400 was against an attack including the World Number 2, hence it got a high rating (aside from the fact it was a world record)

so that will be the reason that harmison didnt loose many points for his performance aganist WI as he was bowling to the number one batsmen in the world.thse 2 could do each other a lot of help

No, he didn't lose many points because it was also a high scoring match, there were some high ranked opposition aside Lara, and he also got 2 good men out.

As it stands, I think he only needed about 4 wickets to go top (partly because I think that his rating is still slighlty undervalued owing to inexperience)

Im very happy for Rahul Dravid being number 1 for the first time in his career. He has proven that with hard work, determination, commitment and fitness the sky is the limit and Rahul deserves being number 1 for a long time yet.

Well done to Rahul

For somebody who averages well over 50 he never seems to get the credit he deserves on occasions.

Call me crazy, call me nuts, but I would take him over Tendulkar anyday on a seaming wicket.

Yeah, he has the best technique in the Indian side, if not in the world.

Dravid's averaging around 58 now and Tendulkar 57, so its a close call.
But Dravid averages over 60 overseas and Im sure Tendulkar averages like 65 at home.

I'd take Dravid over Tendulkar anyday. In fact Dravid is my first choice batsman in my world XI.
