Redmond to some other province other than Canterbury? About bloody time! He didn't have any chance to show the potential that he had as a leg-spinning allrounder.

The Wellington lineup will be very weak this year without the Black Caps.

Redmod will be good. Todd is coming to Otago not Canterbury What is Todd?
Also Llorne Howell has transfered to Northern.

Im not sure Otago need 2 bowling all-rounders..they need specialist batsmen.

Todd is a 21 year old middle order batsman/medium pace bowler.
His stats aren't great, but he's had limited opportunity for Central & is a former NZ U19 rep.

Thats what i thought we don't need players that bat at 6 or 7 when we have Wilson, Hopkins and McSkimming. We need batsmen who bat at 4 or 5.
But im sure that if they play to their potental they will be good additions to our squad.

That means Howell has almost played for every domestic team.
He has yet to play for Otago or Wellington.

N.D have made a good move on Howell..he's still a good player & N.D desperately need experienced batsmen when their NZ players are away.

Canterbury will have a might strong team this year.

Auckland look a tad short of quality pace bowlers.

Likely State Champs Auckland team:-

Richardson, Jones, Horne, Vincent, Nicol and Barnes.

Canning, Mills and Adams.

Young.

Walker and ???.

Lacking a quality wicket taker. If we could only lure of the CD pacemen...

Canterbury have made 2 very astute buys IMO.

They've drafted in one of NZ's best up & coming opening batsmen who's unlikely to play for NZ this season anyway. And they've also drafted in the most promising genuine quick bowler in NZ.

I think if they don't win both the Championship & Shield with that squad they'll be very disappointed.

As for Otago, im not sure why they're recruiting 2 bowling all-rounders when that was perhaps already their strength. Redmond though...if he improves, Otago will have the only leg-spinner in NZ so that might be of some worth to them.

Ryder is probably THE #1 signing so far..talent wise, he's unmatched..but he's got an attitude & it'll be interesting to see if Wellington can deal with him.
Its becoming more clear why he wanted out of C.D..Barlow the new C.D coach was the coach who dropped him from the C.D U19 team because of poor behaviour.

Auckland may bring in Left-armer Michael Bates this season..i've faced him in indoor cricket & he's reasonably quick.

But there appears to be a shortage of good quick bowlers in Auckland. I haven't heard any word on whether Auckland are targeting any bowlers outside of the region though.

I no longer play indoor. I played for the Auckland U18's a year or so back & got dropped. I play every now & then for my mates team over at Balmoral.

That new place is freaking cold man.

The pull swings a hell of a lot though on cloudy nights cuz of the humdity.

Do you know any of the umpires or players from the current Auckland U18 team?

my coach was Warwick..he was a former NZ indoor coach.

Oh Warrick!

Very nice man him.

I just know that the umpires for the games are extremely poor. Don't tell me you are one of them?

Tim

Warwick is a tough son of a b*tch though...don't ever travel with him lol!

Nah im not an umpire..usually I just go along to watch or sometimes I play. 2 or 3 of my friends from the Auckland team are umpires though.

Tim

$9 or $10/hr I believe...apparently the mens grade is not so easy to umpire though. There are a few hardcore players who can't accept decisions.

I've been involved in a few incidents but this probably isn't the place to be describing them.

That ball is quite an interesting ball. Rough, but bloody travels through the air fast.

We played Radio Sport's team last year, they were seriously a bunch of jokes. Good fun nevertheless!
