"Born before Tests" draft

AndrewB

International Vice-Captain
Simple draft: You can pick anyone who was born before the country they were born in* had played Test cricket.

Anyone born in a country which has not played Test cricket is eligible.
The team "England" is deemed to include both England and Wales (i.e. people born in Wales are only eligible if born before the first ever Test).
Similarly "West Indies" includes Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago, Virgin Islands.

So to clarify, you can pick
- Anyone born in England, Wales or Australia before 15 March 1877
- Anyone born in South Africa before 12 March 1889
- Anyone born in West Indies (see list of countries above) before 23 June 1928
- Anyone born in New Zealand before 10 January 1930
- Anyone born in India before 25 June 1932
- Anyone born in Pakistan (or what is now Pakistan) before 16 October 1952
- Anyone born in Sri Lanka before 17 February 1982
- Anyone born in Zimbabwe before 18 October 1992
- Anyone born in Bangladesh before 13 November 2000

In all cases, "born in X" means "born in a place which is now part of X" - e.g. anyone born in Georgetown would count as being born in Guyana, even if it was called British Guiana at the time.

*I think I prefer this option - we could play "before the country they played for" if that would be more popular. Please say which version you'd prefer when signing up!

The country they were born in makes things more interesting. Will need see an early ruling on whether Scotland counts alongside England though..

Edit: got it the other way around the first time

Can you edit the opening post so it's easier to check eligibility please?

Damn! I'm too late!
Don't worry; you'll probably be allowed in.

Just making sure that Ceylon counts for Sri Lanka?

And British India, British Guiana respectively for India and West Indies?

In all cases, "born in X" means "born in a place which is now part of X", so anyone born in (say) Lahore at any time counts as being born in Pakistan. (Opening post now clarified).
