Fast Bowler Survival - 2020 edition First Group Stage Voting Thread

stephen

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
This thread is for voting on each of the different groups of fast bowlers for the fast bowler survival competition.

I will post two groups at a time.

The top 8 bowlers will progress in this round.

Please rank the bowlers in each group from best to worst as you see fit (pretend you're drafting them for a draft competition). Across all voters, the 8 highest ranked bowlers will progress to the next round of voting. The groups have been seeded based on the previous Fast Bowler Survival competition I ran in 2010. Beyond their initial seeding, the previous competition has no bearing on this one. I will post my rankings at the end of the voting period for each group. Please remember that you will get more out of this if you vote sensibly.

I just realised this is going to be harder than I thought.
The first rounds will be the hardest, simply because I have so many players to get through. Which you can thank yourself for given you nominated half of them .

I’ve realized Fazal Mahmood needs more recognition. He was the first among many for Pakistan. It was empty barrel before him with few exceptions like Amar Singh/Nissar from the greater subcontinent. His home average is under 20 with SR of 66. Scalps were Sobers (five times), Rohan Kanhai (four), Neil Harvey (four), Compton (three), Len Hutton (twice) to name few. He was the master of swing bowling.

In build, run-up and bowling action, Fazal does not resemble Bedser, but their bowling methods bear a distinct similarity. Both concentrate on varied swing and a mixture of leg-cutters and break-backs at just above medium-pace; both are masters of length.

Much more cut than swing from what I've read, mainly from leg. Averaged 15 on matting (with reportedly extremely friendly home umpiring) and 38 on turf, even with at least one match on a rain soaked pitch ideal for him.

Whatever it takes!!!
The format makes it difficult for me as I have not seen many of the names in action for me to make a proper Vs judgement. I found it easier in the A Vs B stuff.

Nah umpiring cant be a basis of judging someone in comparison. How many lbws he got? 23 lbws out of 139 dismissals. We cant assume all of them were in his favor.

The numbers in the grouped will halve for the next round. I wanted to have smaller groups but the number of players nominated was quite high.

Just do your best.
