This was a much tighter draft than the winners draft. The quality of players was so much lower in this draft.

Not voting for myself obviously. Of the others, I think the team that jumped out most was BoyBrumby's team which had a great attack and a decent batting lineup. I really like HonestBharani's pace attack (well his openers anyway). Teuton had an ATG bowling attack and a strong top order as well but his middle order lets his side down a fraction. Trundler's strength is his bowling, lead by Garner and with some very decent supporting bowlers. A Massive Zebra reunites Murali and Malinga, probably Sri Lanka's two best bowlers in the format and has quite a solid batting order as well. Ankitj has a very good middle order, starting with the master blaster himself and follows it up with a very decent bowling attack. Fuller Pilch has the most aggressive opening pair ever, coupled with batting down to 9. This does mean that his bowling is slightly weaker though.

Hard to pick two winners here, but I think I'm leaning towards BoyBrumby and A Massive Zebra.

Trundler - Couple of ATGs and couple of ATVGs of the format thrown in between a very meh group. Seems more likely to lose than win in comparison to the other sides in the draft.

Stephen - Pretty much like the current Aussie ODI side when it comes to batting, pretty amazing top 4 followed by an extremely soft underbelly. Bowling is meh.

AMZ - For me, the best side in the draft. Only real drawback is Kaif at 6 and Chris Old and given the strength around them, neither should hold the side down much. Amazing allround strong side.

BoyBrumby - Couple of the ATGs with the ball and some ATVGs mixed in with some very good multi skilled players. Have them as #2 in this draft. Would love to watch that side.

Ankit - Very meh batting line up and literaly no spinners in the top 5 bowlers. Probably the least balanced side in the draft

FullerPitch - 3 of the ATGs in this side but way too many lefties and a bit full of bits and pieces folks, can get taken apart by some of the batting sides easily within this draft.

My own side - Not as happy as I was with the winners draft side. Got one ATG with the bat and ball and one ATVG with bat and ball each. Think it has decent depth but very middle of the pack within the context of this draft. I don't vote for myself but even if I were to, on actual quality, this side is very middle of the road IMHO.

Teuton - Excellent and well balanced bowling attack but the batting is very hit or miss. I am not sure any ODI side will be the better for having a Gatting at 6. Third best in the draft for me.

As for selling my own side:

Anwar, Sanga and Ponting are ATG players in the ODI format. They will carry the side through on most occasions. Taylor was decent for his time too. My middle order is weaker than the top, but that's in part made up for by having specialists. Steve Waugh was a clutch player who batted Australia to victory in a world cup and bowled Australia to a victory in another world cup, which should count for something. Matthews was a very good number 6 for Sri Lanka for a long time and specialised in the role. Samaraweera was my final pick but should be good for a few runs batting down at 7. Holding and Henry with the new ball is a decent combo - Henry is vastly underrated in the ODI format. To average in the mid 20s in the modern era of 350+ being par is really quite good. Ferguson brings the fire at first change. Vettori, while not a world beater, certainly was a very good ODI spinner. Waugh was the specialist death bowler (which is great, it means Henry can be bowled out early).

All in all, I think batting tends to win ODIs and that's the strength of my side. In fact I think of all the sides my batting lineup is arguably the strongest.

I think the reduction in quality of the XIs selected from the winners' draft shows that, as often as not, the best team tended to win the finals. Only India in 83 seriously bucked this trend.

Some decent looking teams for all that though.

Trundler has Afridi opening, one of the ultimate diamonds or dog**** players; he could easily take the game away from the oppo if the force was with him, especially with Dessie Haynes as his partner, but he could equally fail to trouble the scorers too. There's a decent upper middle order, but quite a tail with Botham (who never fully embraced limited overs stuff) scheduled to come in at 6. Garner and Saqlain are both platinum performers in their respective disciplines, but there's a sharp drop in quality after them for the other 30 overs.

Stephen has a very solid top 5, with two ATGs in Punter & Sanga, but maybe a slight weakness in the lower middle order with Arnold and Samaraweera at 6 and 7. 5 good bowling options, but perhaps lacks a fall back option if Henry and Ferguson were gotten hold of.

I like AMZ's XI an awful lot. Batting down to 8, quick scoring openers, no real obvious flaws.

FP has a very strong batting line up and a seriously impressive depth of bowling options. If I were to nitpick he maybe misses a first rank spinner, but Sanath, Sehwag and Bevan between them almost certainly paper over this.

Ankitj has a strong middle order, decent depth to his batting & a quality seam attack, but does lack a spinning option at all.

HB gets a huge tick for Sachin opening, has probably the quickest opening bowling partnership in Lillee and Ahktar, but lacks a bit of depth to both his batting and bowling, with Dougie Walters, notoriously two bob in the format, coming in at 5.

Teuts has a quality opening pair, an ATG spinner in SK Warne and arguably the best left arm seamer in the format ever in Wasim, but his middle order are mostly accumulators and the bowling, as with Stephen, lacks another option after the 5 needed to get through 50.

It's close, but think it's AMZ and Fuller Pilch, just.

It was a decent side. NZ bowlers are vastly underrated it seems. Boult is a great. Viv is a great. I think your side is on a par with most others here.

Problem is that world cups tend to be lost by the worse sides. Particularly the early iterations with so many garbage English sides.
