Can't figure out why they don't have a sweeper when Rahul is just timing everything to the cover boundary

srbhkshk

International Captain
Was a decent game as an India fan, Bumrah didn't look like he had lost pace so he should be good with a bit of practice. Saini had some serious pace going and can hopefully be a good prospect for the longer formats too.

Whatever it takes!!!
Well, earlier they had Dhawan in the slips. He just moved in there when it was 4 inside the circle and he was one of them as Dhawan had moved to the deep. Similar to how Ganguly used to come into slips when we still had Laxman in the side back in 2003/04.

It's more of a broader observation. He still puts himself in the cordon in Tests.

Migara

Cricketer Of The Year
Our problems continue. No one wants to bat deep, run twos and challenge fielders. We were never good at big hitting. Now we are not good at what we were good at. Long innings, good running and fitness.

Sri Lanka have some talented players. Hasaranga, Lahiru Kumara, Gunathilaka, Avishka Fernando etc. Wouldn't be surprised if they squared the series in the next game, our T20 team is still pretty inconsistent.

when was Sri Lanka ever good at fitness

I know they had the odd His Roundness in their sides but Sri Lanka in the 90s were the most unsubcontinental side in that aspect. They had excellent fielders on par with RSA, Aus and NZ. They ran extremely fast and well between the wickets and generally displayed a lot of street-smarts about their cricket.

Never watched back then.

If Migara is to be believed though Murali was an ATG fielder before he put on the pounds.

They still had some unathletic blokes like Ranatunga, De Silva etc. even back then but yeah, their fielding standards were much better than the other Asian teams in that era.

Well, he is right about that one. Murali was awesome before he started getting his shoulder injuries. He even used to field at point at times to the seamers.
