Tage is off the field after taking a hit on his right thigh...fielding at short-leg, the batsman John Campbell attempted a sweep shot..connected, and the ball struck Tage.

The next over, Campbell hit back to back boundaries off Raymon Reifer, and then next ball he got caught behind...

John Campbell-20 (41)

Jamaica Scorpions 40/1 (15.3)

It looks like Jermaine Blackwood coming in at #3

Kyle Mayers has definitely looked the best batsman in this tournament. He is very composed at the crease. Knows his weakness and strength.

Batting on 70* at the moment, just dispatched Josh Thomas 9 rows back in the Greenidge and Haynes stand.

I don't know when was the last time a batting team in the domestic circuit has amassed this amount of runs in the opening day......The Barbados Pride are currently 278/6 in 71 overs. A run rate of almost 4.

Another 5-wicket haul for Veerasammy Permaul; just picked up the wicket of Jamie Merchant for 16.

Jamaica are 172/6

Dennis Smith, nephew of Devon Smith, looks like a good, composed player. The commentators on the broadcast are saying that he's an introvert.

Nial Smith, in his 3rd spell of the innings looks much more comfortable with the older ball than in his earlier spells...and also he's bowling to lower order batsmen...causing troubles.

Mayers keeps on trucking...goes to bed unbeaten on 121(135), and Barbados in a superb position. 357/7 at the close of play.

I don't know if Devon Smith and his fellow batsmen will play for the draw...Still 3 more days left.

The nosedive by the TT team has been the disappointment of the tournament so far. At one point, they were considered a batting powerhouse, but in this round they go to bed at 161/7. No batsman truly pushing on. There were starts.

Permaul took 7/59 in 30.4 overs. The Jamaican batsmen showed their inability to cope with Permaul once again. Last time they played us at the Providence Stadium a few rounds ago, Permaul took a 10-wicket match haul...but Jamaica still went on to win that game, courtesy of Peat Salmon...who is out due to his action being in question.

Permaul now has 37 wickets at 12.43 and a strike rate of 36.49. I think he bowled unchanged today...sending in those 30.4 overs.

still permauling etc etc

disappoitning campbell cant learn to build on his starts
Yeah, making a strong case for selection in the senior team. I have doubts over that though...he still has lots of cricket left in him. Only 30 years old.

This is also his 100th match in domestics. A feat that only 6 other players have achieved.

John Campbell's batting in this innings was more or less divided into two parts:

i) The first part. He was batting with a good head, blocking, leaving, respecting good balls.
ii) The second part. His true nature is to attack, and after good batting in the first part, he ultimately started to attack. Pounced on anything, everything. Consecutive boundaries...then BAM! Gone. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

The Barbados Pride have made a formidable 1st innings total.

417 all out.
The test will come when Devon Smith faces the top bowling team of the tournament: Roach, Holder, Harding.

It might turn out to be a classic...
