Big effort from our blokes. Scoreline says a pizzling but it didn’t feel like one til tonight really. Comprehensive though from australia. The attack gives you nothing. They’re brutal.

Well done Australia. Definitely should be ahead of England and SA and I'm expecting the rankings to correct themselves soon to reflect that.

Aus is very very close to basically being a complete team.
Probably just one gun 5/6 away from it. Warner, Marnus and Smith are obvious class, Burns is generally Test standard and the attack is outstanding.

Patterson/Pucovski, come on down.

Labushagne makes such a difference. that and Starc fulfilling his potential. Honestly, he’s ATG level when he bowls at his best. 6’5”, left arm at 90mph plus is no fun at all when it’s done right.

Said it earlier in the Test but it feels very strange to be looking at an Aus team with 3+4 settled and dominant for the first time in, what, 15 years? Makes such a massive difference to how the entire batting lineup is perceived.

Yeah right now I'd have it 1. India, 2/3. Aus/NZ, 4. England, then the rest (find it hard to choose between South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the West Indies)

That was depressingly tame from nzl. Expected a lot more from them and this game especially where batting was concerned. Quite a few wickets came from having to deal with extra bounce which you really need preparation for, yet still.

Yeah, those two behind an opening pair putting on more than 15 makes it very hard for the opposition, particularly here where the decks are pretty true. Blokes batting five and six have it a lot easier when that’s happening.

played australia, total domination from some very good and great cricketers. starc finally coming to the party this summer completes this attack and with a world class attack you're always in business.

not having all this sympathy for the nz batsmen. they all average 40+ (one is a future atg) and have for a long time, not two minutes. we expect better, have seen better in very hostile conditions and will demand better.

they need to get over their 'capitulate to anything remotely australian' schtick and channel the refusal to die that characterises the rapidly growing list of meme comebacks.

Very 90's India really, dominate at home prior to December and then go Aus/Saf with issues against the bouncing ball exposed. Though as unit NZ have generally fared better and the lack of decent prep was a problem.

Australia give you nothing though mate. They basically ground england into the dirt with this attack and that was on slower decks. They’re just unrelenting.

With Warner and smith back & Labushagne settling in at three, they’re putting scoreboard pressure on too. The lack of that last year cost them so badly.A genuinely tough outfit at home now.

Watching these Starc highlights now, and as an old opener, no thank you.

NZ lost this in the period from Williamson's dismissal to the end of their 1st innings. With Oz a bowler down and their two best batsman set, they had an enormous opportunity to really put pressure on Oz but once Smith took his amazing catch, they folded very meekly.

Australia's bowling was excellent throughout, with Lyon's working over of Taylor on Day 3 a highlight. But NZ's batting was on the whole very disappointing and yet again found wanting on Oz pitches.

Bring in a new opener, move Raval to #6 to replace Santner. Watling at 7, CdG at 8. Boult comes back. Bat deep. Win the test. Rejoice in the knowledge that the win cements India's favourites tag for the Test Championship.

Would have given Labuschagne MoTM over Starc.
Yeah his innings stood out in a pretty bowler dominated game. Allowed Australia a very comfortable position after the first innings to see them dominate.

Whatever it takes!!!
Amazing effort from Aus to win with just 3 frontline bowlers. The fact that so many of their batters can bowl and bowl reasonably decent stuff has stood them in good stead, unlike teams like India where if you are a batsman you just about never bowl. NZ should be disappointed, especially with their first innings batting and first day bowling (3rd session especially). They lost the game there I feel. Anyways hope NZ stage a good comeback but you get the feeling this should have really deflated them and they will do well to avoid 3-0.

rankings are weird. in australian conditions they're obviously #1 and NZ a clear #4 behind india and sa (send england there right now and they'd never take a wicket - despite this thrashing i still back nz to beat england in australia).

in india obviously it's india a clear #1 and i reckon we'd be #2. we can see off pakistan and sri lanka in tight contests, and aus/sa/eng can come at us tbh.

bangladesh would probably ****ing skittle us in india though. another team we find really annoying to play.

in england would be interesting because the english bowling attack might actually try and it will even up the sena sides and india are good overseas now. a test world cup in england would be fascinating.

Yea its a really good australian team this don't get me wrong. But it's a shame that a packed cricketing schedule doesn't allow teams to arrive and play tour games and acclimatise for a whole month in advance. Not saying they would have avoided defeat or anything but definitely they might have put up a better fight.

Aus IMO. Had any batsman supported Smith in 2017 series , they should have won that series . Smith choked in the 2nd innings of 2nd test  . NZ last won a test match in India in 80s iirc .

eh, fair, india are the ultimate hometown bullies historically. change 'india' to 'generic spinny country of choice' in that post then.
