i don't think it will go any better tbh. 2015 hasn't faded in the memory, and we'll probably play a half fit boult again.

I'm looking forward to this series. Should be a cracker. At least, it shouldn't be two innings victories in a row.

Looks like Starc might break down as well. He isn't looking too certain with his right knee giving him trouble.

Just noticed the weird itinerary for this tour. 10 days between first and second test, but no FC game.

First test on 12/12.
Then players I assume return home and play a few domestic T20s, have a holiday?
Then second test on boxing day.

Bancroft dropped from the squad this morning

Really looking forward to this series

Highlight of the Summer for me

Correction, Bancroft is still one of the players on standby

He's been released to play Shield cricket

Supposedly Boult was bowling in the nets today in Hamilton. Good signs. Just really hope CdG's injury isn't as bad as it's been described.

What a **** show it would be if we miss out on CdG and Wagner goes unselected for meme reasons.

Australia looking pretty settled for the 1st test with Head at #6 being the only one not secure for the whole series.

Glad they left Bancroft out of the squad. Never deserved to be there.

latham
raval
williamson

nicholls
watling

santner
wagner

boult

would be my choice with everyone available. southee in for boult if he's any less than 100%. take mitchell as cdg injury cover.

we're committed to raval imo, especially if the next cab off the rank is a rumoured return to rutherford. im concerned by santner's bowling but whatever we've committed and he's played decently so far.

australia will win 3-0 or 2-0 but all i ask is no disgraceful meltdowns like brisbane. the batting did about as expected last series with a mix of big and little scores but the 125kph long hops and doug bracewell being the only bloke in the corridor were not enjoyable to watch.

im mentally prepared for the disappointment lol but i know i'll be on here shaking my head if we do our usual fall over in the face of anything remotely related to a group of australian cricketers.

At this point Colin is sounding likely to make it. Apparently he was still capable of bowling last week, so it must be a very minor muscle tear. Boult sounding a lot more 50:50 for Perth.

It's a tough ask going across the ditch and competing against a rampant Australia (who are a much better side now than they were in 2015). NZ won in the UAE because they selected for the conditions and the batsmen managed to hang in there and eventually come to grips with the conditions, will need to do the same here.

For me that means getting Ferguson in and resisting the temptation to play two new ball specialists (though a fit and firing Boult is a must if NZ are to stop David Warner from having a great series). Not bullish on the Santner selection either though hopefully he goes better than Mark Craig did in 2015 and continues Smith's supposed vulnerability (?) against left arm spin. Expecting the batting to go about as well as 2015, NZ's lineup more accomplished this time around but equally Australia's attack is more menacing; quite a few members of the side have had a decent amount of exposure to Australian conditions and know they're generally good enough, so hopefully that counts for something.
