Irfan Pathan's excellent adventure :)

I have read it too. Definitely the best choice to lead the attack. Unlike most Indian fast bowlers, he has a good build, so he can be as good as the Goughs, Caddicks, Gillespies, Ntinis and other leading fast bowlers of today. The only thing he lacks is express pace, but so does every other Indian fast bowler.

That said, his batting is very good for a fast bowler. The coach should use it well. His junior coach, Sandeep Patil, says he can bat as well as a top-6 batsman, and since coach knows best, he may be right. A lot of the shots he played are very much the shots of a top 6 batsman. He can even hit a few big sixes, when the need exists. He is also a good fielder and can field well anywhere- ground fielding and catching.

While its extremely unfair to comapare him with Wasim or any other great bowler, Irfan is clearly the best bowling talent to emerge from India since Kapil a quarter century ago.

Lets enjoy his bowling and his wonderful spirit and joyful enthusiasm that he brings.

He may also turn out to be India's next major allrounder after Kapil.

Lets hope he will fully exploit his obvious talents and leave it at that instead of praising him to the skies and 'exposing him to the evil eye' as we say in India.

Yes he does lack express pace at the moment but his coaches, peers and he himself have said that he has not yet fully physically developed, so there is plenty of time to further improve his pace.
