Seems a bit slow deck and hard to get any pace on the bat. Good crown turnout.

Is the pitch bad? Hard to imagine batting would be good on 1 November, but then I see some of these domestic scores and who knows...

Huge interest in this game obv.

Can anyone recall what a typical date for a first home international of the season has been historically? This really feels like a month early.

Why replace a good bowler with a bad bowler after just one over when the good bowler has just bowled a good over?

Why is Jason Roy not playing this game? Was he omitted from the squad?
Yeah they rested him along with Stokes, Archer and IIRC a couple of the others who played both the Ashes and the WC.

Edit: yeah Buttler was the other one, and kind of Root but he's a 50/50 proposition for their T20 team anyway.

Yeah, the pre-Christmas tours tend to be late Nov/early December although I suppose NZ is often touring overseas at this time of year too.

Have only occasionally followed this match over radio, but surprised that NZ scored 153 with only 5 down - other than Mitchell the rest of the batting too cautious?

Santner and Ferguson good figures as usual.

Can you sticky the thread please? Muchas gracias.
