Initially I thought Warner was being reserved this morning just building up his innings and let his teammate take over. But I think mentally he was struggling to come up after batting a full day which he very rarely has done in his career.
Does go to show just how mentally demanding batting at this level is even in what could fairly be described as very docile batting conditions tbh

That’s what’s even crazier about Smith’s average, when the going is easy he rarely seems to score big runs.

Warning sign for Smith was prev ball; hit it for four but atypical for him to play such a short early in his innings. With no pressure on maybe just mentally slackened off.

It was weirdly predictable tbh. It's particularly pronounced in short formats; you can just tell that he doesn't care that much and plays a daft shot instead of batting normally.

A very Virat Kohli thing to do. How disappointing.
I genuinely wonder if it's a trait common to the truly transcendent (non-Bradman) batsman; the mental intensity that they have to put in to reach such spectacular heights makes it difficult for them to adjust to, well, easy conditions.

It is isn't it? After a few balls you can tell his chi isn't aligned and that a dismissal will probably come if theres enough on the board.
