India's Test Bowling Stocks

srbhkshk

International Captain
I would always play Bumrah if he is available, he is a better bowler than anyone else we have. In India we can go in with a five bowler attack in most tests anyway with Jadeja and Ashwin combining for the 7th batsman.

I think India absolutely needs to go with 5 bowler option at home unless it is a rank turner when we need to shore up batting. Keeps the bowlers fresh, helps the captain to enforce follow on whenever there is an opportunity. Also makes bad light and other weather conditions inflict less damage on the prospects of victories.

So essentially 10th, 11th, 12th and 50th choice bowlers on now.

And still competing.
Actually the pecking order is more like this over last 3-4 years

First choice
1. Bumrah
2. Ashwin
3. Ishant
4. Shami

B team
5. Yadav
6. Jadeja
7. Pandya
8. Bhuvi

C team
9. Siraj
10. Saini
11. Kuldeep
12. Shardul

D, E, F...

G team (Nets)
25.Natarajan
Lol.... Sundar

This is definitely a C grade attack further diluted by two bona fide nets bowlers.

It's funny because it's usually when Australia tours India that you see bowlers called up who get one or two tests in their entire career before being unceremoniously dropped forever.

That B team attack is pretty average aside from Jadeja, who should probably be in the first attack anyway

India probably wouldn't have lost that badly in England if Sam Curran, a B team player, hadn't come in so swings and roundabouts.

Assuming 5 bowlers (3 pace 2 spin) with 1 AR.

First choice attack: Bumrah, Ishant, Shami, Ashwin, Jadeja

Second choice attack: Umesh, Siraj, Kuldeep, Nadeem, Pandya

Third choice attack: God knows. Some combination of quick bowlers from Saini, Porel, Thakur, Warrier, Avesh and Natranjan. No idea who the spinners would be. I assume Sunder would be one of the allrounders since he is playing today. Vijay Shanker has played for India A recently, so he would be in the mix as well.

Whatever Nattu and Sundar were hardly in the scheme of things in test cricket. Them playing by default has made this "attack" a genuine C grade one, although Aus batsmen doing their best to make it look like A grade.

haha, if todd astle hadn't made the most random retirement ever india wouldn't have copped kyle jamieson either.

looks like australia should have debuted a slightly random bowling allrounder to bring the trophy home

also penile dysentry has rigged that b team attack to make australia look worse. no way is that the b attack. it's obviously a 5 man attack yadav, siraj, saini, jadeja, pandya

bhuvi isn't in there. i don't rate him much as a test option (tho better atm than saini) and more importantly the indian selectors don't rate him with a red ball either so he's not really an option if they refuse to pick him.
