***Official*** New Zealand Domestic Season 2019/20

Yeah Darryl Mitchell smashing it and Santner starts his must-remind-everyone-I-can-bat domestic season well, even if it's thoroughly downhill skiiing.

Watching Mitchell's boundaries also notable for how little energy is apparent in the Cantab bowling attack - yeah the ball was 65 overs old already when Mitchell arrived, but in those clips Nuttall was losing all his momentum slowing down just before delivery stride, Henry bowling without zip (phoning it in, really) and then there's Williams...

Just like I think Will Williams has a run-up and an action like a hungover 4th grader on 2 hours sleep.
While his job is obviously just to bowl wicket to wicket dots, it's pretty surprising to see any domestic side picking a specialist bowler who probably only gets the ball through at 122km/h on a good day. It's not like he doesn't have the physique to bowl a bit quicker either, but just lopes in and rolls the arm over.

Yeah, I thought that about Canterbury's bowlers too. Long season ahead when you can't run in on day 2/3.

Must work for Williams, his record is decent so far. Colin de gets it down at about 120km/ph and has a 1-20 in a World Cup final, so whatever works.

When you bowl that sort of pace you really need to a cut above in terms of skill, someone like Copeland is a good example. No real pace but does plenty with it.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
So what's our 2nd XI then?

1. Hay
2. Seifert/Worker
3. Brownlie
4. Young
5. Guptill (I'm with Athers on this one)
6. Santner
7. Blundell+
8. Sodhi/Astle/Somerville (assuming Ajaz is #1, baby)
9. Henry
10. Ferguson
11. Bennett

That's not a bad line up, I think we will win most games at home and likely to lose all overseas :) Like a no.5/no.6 test side right now. Tickener Duffy and Jamieson can be the backups. I'd add Glenn Phillips to the line up as well.

If we're not talking about minnows (Zim, Ireland and Afgahnistan) then yeah they probably won't win away series, though might take a test off the WIndies in the Caribbean.

At home I'd back them to beat Sri Lanka, WI, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Popped into EPOO. Cold, blustery wind. CD unlucky to be 2 down, Hay bottom edged onto stumps trying to leave, Worker gloved a leg side catch to the McEwan's only bad ball. Ross looked solid. Will be an interesting afternoon if rain stays away, some low bounce and a few cracks will make it difficult to score quickly.

And Rosco goes for 18. Is it harder for the guys that's been playing international cricket to do well at domestic? Likely less pace on the ball and much worse pitch conditions than at international? Or likely less intensity?

Na they typically dominate. Wouldn't read too much into it.

CD needing 80 with 5 wickets in hand in the final sesh! Should be a cracker if the weather holds. Cleaver has gotta be in with a shout in NZ colours some time soon
