2019/20 New Zealand First-Class Season Draft (Division 2)

Kippax

Cricketer Of The Year
Okay to give this division a slight point of difference and maybe attract some double-dippers from Division 1, points hauls in Tests will be given a 1.3x prestige bonus. Probably quite rightly too, given the difficulty of the 2019/20 Test assignments.

Six spots open to prompt entries, Vandem and NZT obviously involved if they want to be.

Test matches: England (2, late Nov), Australia away (3, Dec-Jan), India (2, late Feb)
Plunket Shield: Oct-Nov (3), Feb-Mar (5)
NZA: India A in Jan-Feb (2)

Note: The Raval/Wagner type of player available for the early Plunket Shield rounds (Rd. 2 and Rd. 3 will clash with a NZ vs. England T20 series), the March Plunket Shield rounds (clashing with ODIs and T20Is vs. Australia), also players chosen for the two matches against India A, have an advantage from a scheduling point of view. Only a player's highest eight points hauls of the season will count towards his total.

Only five of your first XI draftees (six including the 12th man, who comes in for injuries) can score more bowling points in the season than batting points. Otherwise, infringing players on your team will go to zero.

Anyone you bat at No. 9-11 scoring more batting points in the season than bowling points, infringing players on your team will go to zero.

Your designated wicket-keeper will only score non-WK fielding points if he's making way for a gloveman with Test caps (Seifert for Watling, but not Phillips for Horne, etc.)

Ratio'd Spud Drafted player with the worst ratio of points to games played -100 points

King of the Openers Drafted player to score the most runs as an opener 200 bonus points

Non-Ravindra Emerging Player Excluding Rachin Ravindra, the highest points tally for a drafted player born 1997 or later 200 bonus points
Eligible would be Allen, Bhula, Chu, Clarkson, Fisher, Foxcroft, Z. Gibson, Leopard, Ludick, Murray, D. Phillips, Sears, Sheat, Smith, etc.

Team PPG Award Drafted team with the highest points per game played: 500 bonus points

Batting
Each Run Scored: 1 point
Duck: -10 points

Bowling
Wicket of a 1-5 bat: 30 points
Wicket of a 6-7: 25 points
Wicket of an 8-11: 15 points
Innings bowling average 20 or under: 10 Points (min. 5 overs)
Bowling economy rate 4 or above: -10 Points (min. 5 overs, bowling average must be above 30)

Fielding
Per catch 10 points
Per WK catch 8 points
Per run out 10 points
Per stumping 10 points

Not Terrible
**** just got so much more real now that the threat of relegation exists.
Top 3 Div 1 - safe for 20/21, top 3 Div 2 move to Div 1*

*only if they have higher points than the bottom 3 of Div1, but that seems likely.

Last call for entries, otherwise a division of four (Vandem, NZT, Straw, Kippax II).

I might just be a virtual simulacra of Phlegm, but I have feelings too damn it. Most of them related to Jeetan Patel and the quality of films.

Just one team between the six of us might keep this snappy. Just anyone from Div 1 who's quick on the draw can make a pick for the Gatekeepers when they're up for a pick.

It's the Seiferts and Fergusons who'll drive a new drafter barmy trying to work out how many first-class matches they'll actually get in a season. People seek the more certain schedules of a Williamson or a Bennett.

A reminder of Div 2's slight tweak to the format -
points hauls in Tests will be given a 1.3x prestige bonus

Mmm yeah staying away from those who spend time on the bench seems like a good idea - sorry Matt Henry. ODI/T20 players too.
