Not having Dravid in the top 5-6 indian cricketers makes one feel something is not right. 13K plus runs at 52+ is pretty damn awesome. Not many cricketers have been that good for that long let alone from India.

Anil Kumble : India’s best spin bowler and highest wicket taker. Top 10 and arguably Top 5 spin bowler of all time.

Virat Kohli : India’s most successful Test captain. The GOAT ODI batsman.

These five are a lock IMO

Ha, this incident happened some 5-6 years back. The guy had just been released from jail and the public sentiment about him was pretty low. To be honest, it has since been that low.

Kohli has already surpassed Dravid. Kohli is India’s most successful Test captain. Kohli is arguably the greatest ODI captain.

Kohli will rated ahead of Dravid in Tests when he finishes his career. Kohli is undoubtedly the second best Test batsman of his generation. Throughout Dravid’s career, he was never considered as the best or even second best.

It is not Dravid's fault that except Steven Smith none of Kohli's contemporaries are in the level of Ponting, Lara, Sachin, Sanga, Kallis, etc. And Dravid was still one of the best of his time.

Kohli is 31 and at the peak of his career. He still hasn't had a single knock as legendary as Dravid's Kolkatta 01, Adelaide 03, Rawalpindi 04 or even Kingston 06. Dravid scored more runs in India's overseas wins than any other batsman. Dravid along with Gavaskar and Sachin are the only 3 Indian batsmen with a 50+ avg overseas.

So it is highly unlikely that Kohli will rate ahead or anywhere near Dravid by the end of his career.

I am not denying Dravid was one of the best batsmen in the first half of last decade. I am just saying there were others that were just as good. Hayden, Kallis, Ponting, Lara and Sangakkara were just as good back then.

But now, Kohli is clearly the second best Test batsman of this generation. It is not even a debate. It is Smith, Kohli and the rest.

With all due respect to kohli, in tests it's Smith daylight kohli Williamson the rest.

Oh! and Kohli has never played against a team as mighty as 2000s Australia. Dravid's career avg in Australia may only be 42 because of his poor form in the last two series. But he did excellent during his prime years (2001 - 2006) against them.

His 180 at Kolkata 01 for that historical win and his 233 at Adelaide 03 for another historical win says it all. He won the man of the series too when India toured Australia in 03.

And Dravid has scored centuries in all test playing nations with Younis being the only other player to do so.

Well, averaging 38 in Aus, 41 in Eng, 40 in NZ,42 in Pak and 45 in SL. Hasn't really performed anywhere in alien conditions except for a brief period in 2002-04 when he was pretty damn good. Not the quality and numbers expected of ATGs.

I rate him as a very good bowler and respect him for what he achieved which was more about longevity and relentless bowling. Kumble does not have a good secondary skill like Ashwin or Jadeja either.
