I knew this series was going to be bad but man it has been ****. India been all over us like a bad rash.

Akash Chopra saying something about umpire's call doesn't make sense for impact in line. What's his point? Why specifically for impact point?
I think his argument was to do with judging impact on replays/through hawkeye being relatively reliable, as opposed to prediction of what happens subsequently. The former doesn’t really need the arbitrary decider that umpires call is, because the margin of error is probably a lot lower than the latter.

SA would've had a much better shot if they'd got some of those doctored pitches. These kind of decks are the kind where virtually every other team would get steamrolled too.

Definitely and really think you can be happy with the pitches. What you can expect going to India. Whilst the toss is important, I don't think we can even say we have been good enough to even say that has been important. India just far superior with a team full of quality individuals.

Is this the worst SA batting line up since readmission?
We've been saying that for a good 3-4 years since the first time we were beaten well in a test series in over a decade when we lost away to India (even with those pitches), away to England and home to England.

We currently don't have an elite world class batsman who will score runs almost every innings so any flaws will be shown up even if we have 3/4 very good international batsmen.

I don't think SA had a more talented batting line-ups when we first came back into cricket. But I do think that they had better discipline.

This one wasn't the greatest. It did have Kirsten and Cullinan, but it was short on specialist batsmen with a heavy reliance on the bowlers for runs.

Facing Pakistan all-time greats in Wasim, Waqar, Mushtaq and Saqlain.

Not sure I would want to keep my eyes open watching our current lot face them.

A few other attacks around at the time with some ATGs too.

Maybe if we going on quality there was a few home series like New Zealand I think with Rudi Steyn, Gehardus Liebenberg and John Commins ? When we couldn't rely on guys like Jimmy Cook, Kepler Wessels and Peter Kirsten anymore with international experience from rebel series/county cricket and being our top 15-20 batsmen in history. McMillan/Hudson/Richardson was the experience with G.Kirsten, Cullinan, Rhodes, Cronje.

Yeah I don't see anyone bar Steve Smith competing on these. The minefields are where the lesser teams can drag you down to their level and make it a bit of a shootout. Those can be pretty entertaining too though tbf.

Actual science begs to differ. I know its 'cool' in South Africa to bash our teams, but I will keep my criticism after we win the toss for once.

It is easy to look good when you keep having the best of the conditions

Disagree with this. These have been fantastic Test pitches, both teams have opportunity to get big score in their first innings. Nothing extreme and when the ball goes soft able to score runs. The problem is our top 6 has crumbled under the smallest amount of pressure, which a really good Indian attack has put on them.

The problem here is not that we are losing, nobody expected SA to win in India against India, the best team in world at the moment. It is the manner in which it is happening. Both the bowling and batting have been well below par. Undisciplined, poor tactics, except for a few bright moments just poor all round performances.

Nah. We just haven't done the basics as well as India has.

Obviously a mute point but if we batted first I bet it wouldn't have made a difference.

Thing is, we need to open our eyes that cricket in SA at the moment is at an all time low post 60s team and or re-admission. The problem is people at the top will probably take the same carefree attitude and make the easy changes.

Spain and Germany national football teams had a poor Euros early 2000s and restructered their whole system from coaching to facilities and set out long term plans for success from their junior teams up and the rest was history.

Right now our SA u19, SA A and SA cricket teams results have been its worst for years (actually ever) now and not enough has been done and I don't think they will be proactive now.

Disagree, the commentators were already mentioning track was spinning more on Day 2. Was SA suppose to bowl India out in 45 overs on those tracks ?

Not really, this would have happened.

Spinning more is not unplayable, its spun a bit more with the new ball. When the ball went soft it became slow spin. Never mind that many of the top order wickets have got out to seamers? No these wickets have been good. Our batsmen could not cope with the Indian skills. Batting first would not change that.
