Matthew Elliott at 47 and 33 was also close to that criteria
His average was well above 50 for most of his career too before dropping dramatically in the last 3-4 years of his career.

Oddly there's quite a few players of that generation with similar kind of figures. From memory Crawley has similar stats to Elliott.

And if you look at India there's a lot of players who average ~50+ at FC level but only average in the 30's (or less) at Test level.

It's funny that after 5 years in test wilderness he was given a SL tour of all things s a comeback chance and predictably failed. Bet he wished it came a year later in England or during a home summer

Edit - oh wait that was in Darwin. Random as

Still fancy only getting one test to prove your worth after years of fighting in shield cricket for another chance

Was a home Test. The thing is he was in England for most of the time up until the last minute, and his selection was purely only down to Ponting having to withdraw because his aunty died. On top of that he had to bat 3 when he was 100% an opener before that point, and the pitch was an absolute dog from memory. Was set up to fail, pretty much.

If you include List A and T20 hundreds as well, another 12 players have reached 100: Tendulkar, Greenidge, Ponting, Mark Waugh, Lamb, Hayden, Gatting, Sangakkara, Kallicharran, Lehmann, Langer and Law. Trescothick is on 96.

Give it a couple of hundred years, when we've learnt how to get complete control over microclimates, and folk have sufficient leisure time to mean First-Class cricket has become the format of choice for the masses and batsmen will start getting there again

Wonder who gets to 100 combined format centuries. Big 4 all a good chance you'd think?

I can plausibly see Pujara being the sort of cricketer who is still chugging along in the Raiji Trophy well into his 40s

Kohli could very well reach 100 international centuries. For other 3, I think they should be able to reach 100 tons (List A+First class).

But then who knows, if TPC has his way, probably his international centuries could look like this.
Tests - 80
ODIs - 20
6 test centuries per year for 9 years is improbable, but not impossible.

Not outside the realms of possibility since he hardly plays any LOIs. Hasn't played a list A match for close to a year.
He may play all three of CC, Ranji and Tests for the next few years.

Wouldn’t bet on him reaching 100 though, especially given the knees.

Yeah, a good point. This makes one wonder why he goes for those impossible singles in tests.

Like why cant we invest in the ability to do hobbies instead of work rather than investing in terrible political parties and drone strikes?

Australian test regulars basically never play Sheffield Shield any more.
More like Australia white ball cricketers never play shield any more (e.g. Finch, Maxwell, Carey). Pure Test players like Harris and Paine will get to play most shield games now.

The 'all forms' players like Smith and Warner are definitely lucky to get 1 shield game per year.
