Well that was fun, especially as this isn't a belter of a pitch, it's very slow.

The key now is that Hope, Hetmeyer, Pooran and Chase bat 30-35 overs between them scoring at 5ish per over. Then we'll be in for a match winning score. Unfortunately that is not our forte.

Shai Hope really must open the batting when Gayle is officially retired. A pattern has emerged. When Shai opens the batting and gets a start he rotates the strike really well when the spinners come on. When he comes in at 3 he really struggles to get going when starting against spin.

He's so good when opening that it's a bit of a no-brainer really. It will be a nice left/right partnership at the top with Lewis also.

Is this you in cricinfo?

Chris L: "Shai Hope does not start well against spinners at number 3. His record opening the batting is terrific and once he has got a start against the pacers he rotates strike very well. If Gayle has retired, Hope should open with Lewis. "
