Handscomb is a **** keeper mate. Just acknowledge it. Carey is a better keeper, by miles. But the answer is Wade bats three and keeps, and all of Khawaja, Handscomb and Carey miss out for blokes who can actually bat and who aren’t flashes in the pan in this form of the game. Having some spud like Handscomb taking a place at five, six or seven is fine - in 1996. He isn’t physically or mentally capable of going hard enough to be anything other than an impediment to winning in those spots. He’s not up to it.

Warner
Finch
Wade
Smith

should be the top four. Handscomb is not capable in the 21st century of batting below four. And there are better blokes than him to fill those spots. He’s no good. Wouldn’t feed him. A walking wicket in England with that idiotic method against a moving ball. Prefer a therapy dog to bat in the middle orde to him. Spud.

Spuddy McSpudface. Use his hands to book a ****ing ticket home.

Sohail looks like he'll struggle in England. Looks like a mirror image of Handscomb. Does anyone else see that? Masood looks all class though.

Is there anything worse than when minnows win the toss and bat. I wanna see a full game of cricket dammit

This Wade stuff is going a bit too far imo.

Sure he had a good Shield and BBL, but he also did poorly in the JLT. And it's just one season.

I'm all for him replacing Carey but to pretend he's some sort of messiah and should replace Smarsh is pushing it.

His average was pretty poor, but he did hit a ton and his strike rate was 126 for the tournament. 7 games isn't a huge amount and given his bbl and shield form I'd say he's certainly better than that JLT cup suggested.

You're right in that he's no messiah but he's a guy who is proven at international level and is in red hot form right now. He absolutely should be there.

He's a proven failure at international level is Wade tbh. That's something that shouldn't be in his favour

Handscombe keeping is not the option for me either. Particularly in England, I’d rather see a good keeping option. We saw very recently with Pant against the Aussies how a **** ‘keeper can literally miss the chance that costs the game. Hopefully the Aussie selectors heed the lesson.

Whether that’s Wade or Carey, I’m not sure which way the selectors will go. I think they’re doing everything they can to keep Carey in the frame at the moment.

In Tests certainly, but his last stint in the ODI team was actually pretty good
I guess. Overall record in ODIs nothing to write home about

Edit. Actually check his last stint in the ODI team. I took your word for it but it's dreadful.

Had a look for myself, since the last World Cup he averages 29.93 at a strike rate of 99.20. A touch worse than I expected, but still passable for someone generally coming in around 7. Carey averages 29.08 at a comparatively sedate strike rate of 82.31, although off a much smaller sample size. Either would be far better than a non specialist though.

Feel like I could be watching Darren Lehmann bowl all over again with Finch. Similar action, similar speed through the air, similar physique
